About Model Eight

PLOT
The flagship "CloudBuster" must be destroyed. Using the Travelers Network; Model Eight sets out to end it.

GAMEPLAY
This is an STG, or shoot em' up. You shoot enemies, and in turn they will shoot at you in an effort to eliminate you.

A gameplay mechanic featured here revolves around the player destroying enemies, and collecting the scrap that is released by them. Accumulated scrap can then be repurposed into items that increase the ship capabilities.

DIFFICULTY
Intermediate difficulty.

This game does NOT feature AI (Artificial Intelligence) generated "content."

Cute & short little indie title, only took me an hour to beat. Keep in mind there's only one stage at the time of writing this review. However, it was a lot of fun, definitely fits the "medium" difficulty that was intended. Challenging, but never did I feel it was unfair. I am looking forward to seeing what the game will become at full release.

I haven't really written reviews before but I wanted to help with some feedback... First of all the game is pretty short (Since there is really only one level and a slightly changed version of it after defeating it the first time) but it is a cheap game so that's okay with me and even so its still fun to play! It can be a bit challenging at the start but after a few tries and learning the game/enemies its certainly doable. I would love to see a couple more levels or even more unlocks as the game progresses!

Very good short old school style shmup that mixes euroshmup tempo and enemy waves and with some very mild bullet hell patterns. Cool art, decent players should finish all five stages in under an hour.

Model Eight is a hidden gem. It follows the formula of other shoot'em ups and I find the designs to be good, the art cute, and the music fun. Short and sweet, there are only 5 stages. Model Eight is a fun game that's easy to pick up and play. Great for quick game sessions. Pick this one up when you can. Playable on Steam Deck.

Model Eight is an independent shoot 'em up developed and published by Cache that embraces the spirit of classic arcade shooters while introducing a rewarding progression system designed to keep players engaged beyond a single run. Set within the mysterious Travelers Network, the game places players in control of the titular Model Eight, a combat craft assigned to eliminate the powerful flagship known as CloudBuster. While the narrative remains deliberately minimal, it provides enough context to motivate the action without distracting from the fast-paced gameplay that serves as the heart of the experience. The strongest aspect of Model Eight is its commitment to traditional shoot 'em up design. Players must weave through dense enemy attacks, react quickly to changing threats, and maintain precision under pressure. The controls are responsive and easy to learn, making the game accessible to newcomers while still providing the level of challenge that genre veterans expect. Enemy encounters require concentration and pattern recognition, rewarding players who invest time in learning stage layouts and attack behaviors. What helps the game stand apart from many other independent shooter…
