An immensely satisfying game, with enough love for classic shmups and Gunbusters to rob any curious fan of either some well wasted time.
Beautiful and thematic narrative and game design, you will grow invested. Don't have much shmup experience so idk how this does comparatively to others, intuitively though everything was super fun and difficulty was always just engaging enough to not feel cheated. Tons of easter eggs/references to other shmups, games, anime and media. Love letter to not just the genre itself but the culture it's surrounded by. Play this game. Saying anything more would be a spoiler.

the litmus test for if you will like shmups or not. very beginner friendly and sets up any new player with the ethos that's required to really enjoy these games. you will either like this game a lot, dislike it, or complain at extensive length in steam discussions regarding the ending which the developers will never read.
