It's more of a demo than a game. There is probably 30 minutes to an hour of content. What there is is very interesting as a concept. I'd be interested to see what the dev does next.

MOLD is a compact horror experience built around an unusual perspective, placing the player in control of a worker bug struggling through a colony that is being consumed by a spreading fungal infection. Developed by Finley Southwick and published by Ringling College of Art and Design, the game favors atmosphere, environmental storytelling, and unsettling imagery over complicated mechanics. Its modest scale is immediately apparent, but the focused concept gives it an identity that is much stronger than its short runtime might suggest. The story centers on a colony facing complete biological collapse. Mold has spread throughout its home, other workers have died, and even the queen has become infected. Instead of playing a heroic creature capable of reversing the disaster, you are essentially another tiny worker following its assigned purpose. Your main responsibility involves venturing through the contaminated environment, finding the bodies of fallen colony members, and bringing them back to the queen. It is a simple objective made disturbing by the circumstances surrounding it. The protagonist continues performing its duty while the player gradually witnesses just how hopeless and…

great atmosphere, extremely short, took me maybe 5 minutes to finish the game. overall if this were made into a full game I would 100% buy it and recommend it for a decent price. there definitely are some issues, the controls mainly being very weird but from what i figure its more of a art based project not a game design project. overall great work.

[h1] Our Purpose [/h1] Okay, super short game. It has an interesting premise and I'm kind of sad that there wasn't a little more to it, and the reviews are not kidding that it is literally a super short game, but I am interesting to see more from the College and Finley! Keep up the good work!

MOLD is proof that a game doesn't need to be long to leave an impression. The atmosphere is unsettling from the start, with excellent environmental design and sound that constantly keeps you on edge. It captures that feeling of exploring somewhere you really shouldn't be, and it does it well. Despite its short runtime, it never feels rushed. Every moment feels intentional, and the experience sticks with you after the credits roll. If you're a fan of atmospheric indie horror and don't mind a shorter experience, I definitely recommend giving MOLD a try. Sometimes less really is more.
