The world is decaying. MOLD consumes everythingExplore this rotten world from the perspective of an insignificant worker bug doing what it can to keep its queen alive. Climb through sewer pipes and over the soft mold-covered husks of others like you.Mold is a beautifully haunting exploration game. Scurry around the decaying sewers as a bug in a dying colony. This game was created by Finley Southwick for Ringling College of Art and Design's Game Art department.MOLD is a very short narrative and atmospheric collection and exploration game. You can crawl on any surface-- along walls, and ceilings to collect the corpses of your kin to bring to your infected queen, as it is your only purpose as you dodge deadly fungal spores that will result in your grotesque end!

There was nothing to this game. I understand it's a college project, but this was so void of story, or anything at all, really, I don't understand why it has positive reviews. Sure, the first impression is quite neat, and the environment looks interesting, but the controls are so janky exploring even this small space got me frustrated, and, again, there's nothing there. There's literally nothing to get you invested, make you think or care about what's happening, or have this game stick with you in any way. Sure, the visuals can be described as haunting, just like anything that has something to do with death and decay, but this was so short, frustrating and empty, I'm not getting haunted any time soon, and will probably have forgotten about it by the time I'm eating dinner. It's more of a demo than a game. There is probably 30 minutes to an hour of content. What there is is very interesting as a concept. I'd be interested to see what the dev does next.
[h1] Our Purpose [/h1} Okay, super short game. It has an interesting premise and I'm kind of sad that there wasn't a little more to it, and the reviews are not kidding that it is literally a super short game, but I am interesting to see more from the College and Finley! Keep up the good work!
MOLD is proof that a game doesn't need to be long to leave an impression. The atmosphere is unsettling from the start, with excellent environmental design and sound that constantly keeps you on edge. It captures that feeling of exploring somewhere you really shouldn't be, and it does it well. Despite its short runtime, it never feels rushed. Every moment feels intentional, and the experience sticks with you after the credits roll. If you're a fan of atmospheric indie horror and don't mind a shorter experience, I definitely recommend giving MOLD a try. Sometimes less really is more.
