Miasmata

It's a cool game. But I can't recommend it, since I never (in about 5 attempts) finished the game. Once I get to the point, where the creature just home in on me everytime, no matter the hiding spot and all you can do is just distract it and run away, I just don't want to continue. It's so bad of a game design decision on devs part, that I just can't make myself continue, yet I come back to it every once in a while for the atmosphere. But let's back it up a little. What is this game? It's a walking simulator. But not the kind, where you walk and look at things to hear more dialogue. More like a Death Stranding kind of walking simulator. And it was before Death Stranding, so people were hella pissed about how our protag walks like a tank and can stumble and fall. I thought it was actually great. And still think it is. Walking control is unwieldy, but it's intentional. We play as a very sick man in search of a cure, that washed ashore of an island, where reaserch into our cure was underway. We collect samples of plants and mushrooms, get it back to a nearest shack with microscope and figure out what we need. And to do that we do a lot of walking around a big island with lots of vert…

An incredible game, 14 years on im still thinking about the first steps (and falling) around the map. Well worth playing if you havent, its all about atmosphere and exploration (and danger). Just immerse yourself into it.

Miasmata caught my attention for its original idea and genuinely different gameplay. Its beautiful scenarios create an immersive world that feels both mysterious and alive. The strong sensation of solitude makes every discovery feel personal and meaningful. It's a unique and unusual experience, for anyone looking for something beyond conventional triple A games.

Ugly, blurry, gives me headaches while playing. Not recommended and removed from account.

Many years have passed since I played it, hopefully I forgot the map and can replay one day, waiting for this with anticipation. One of the best game like ever. It is about making the map and some horror element that try to prevent you from doing it, but it is more about atmosphere. Didn't find anything like it.
