My Dearest Direst Disaster

This game is a masterpiece in every sense of the word, and is by far my favorite visual novel I've had the pleasure of reading. The story and characters are crafted and develop in the most gut-wrenching ways, but it maintains heart and positive messaging from begining to end. I remember when I first played this on the Nintendo Switch, there were a few nights where I sacrificed sleep just to continue advancing the plot to a point where at the suspense and despair weren't suffocatingly heavy. The game is long, having taken me 50+ hours to complete, and I'd argue that the writing I engaged with during the vast majority of that play time was not wasted, either having served as time for proper characterization for the protagonist and the heroine(s) in the slower moments, or as important fuel for the many mysteries driving the action. Both Hyouma and Kuro(s) all felt like convincing characters that grow along with the diverging events of the plot. This is most obvious with Kuro, of course, but Hyouma changes according to the differing routes more subtly, and I love how you can see how important they are to each other, and how the events of their respective routes serve as catalysts fo…

Sasasagu is a work that takes a bunch of unique concepts and explores them down to the last minute detail to deliver a simple yet powerful message. It also utilizes the strengths of the medium like no other visual novel while staying consistently engaging for dozens of hours. Some people might find it too slow, but in my opinion Sasasagu is very well paced. Even during the slow parts of the story, every scene serves some purpose, either fleshing out every character in detail or sprinkling in masterful foreshadowing. The characters are very well written, but there are clear standouts that overshadow the others a bit too much. I'm talking about [spoiler] Natsu, Kina, and Leader-chan [/spoiler]. The protagonist isn't as unique or entertaining as someone like Kageaki, but he has a very distinctive and likeable personality. It's very easy to relate to him because of his obsession with Kuro (可愛い = Kuro). Kuro is undoubtedly the cutest heroine out of any visual novel btw. Just so you know, this game is far from perfect. Loved the experience from start to end, also the new extra routes was really nice so recomended read for those who read the originals in the past ( this was the first read for me ), Only thing i wished for was that the [spoiler] 6th Kuro also got a more fleshed out side story. [/spoiler] in any event stronly recomend it. Also hope it actually get a proper English release eventually for the rest.
