Nightmare Frames

Great story. Not often I play a game to the end because I eagerly want to see how it all plays out. Puzzles are not too difficult to figure out, which is good because you don't get stuck and the story keeps going. Loved the music and the vibes throughout. One big thing missing is "Only click" to advance dialogue. The best option is text speed "Slow" which gives you plenty of time to read everything but you can't step away because it will keep advancing. And there is no way to open the menu or pause the game while dialogue is going on. And I sorely wish there was a "Go back to previous dialogue" function because a few times I miss clicked and skipped dialogue, so I had to reload and replay some sections to get to read it. For Linux users: I had to use Proton 7 to get it running.

Wonderful little point and click adventure - well written, great setting. Recommended.

Very good game. Really enjoyed it, even though it is a bit on the short side. Cool story and all the puzzles made sense. Only complaint would be that you can't switch to Windows in the middle of the game as the game freezes and doesn't save, so make sure you save often. I lost at least an hour of progress by instinctively going to Windows to look up some horror trivia only to realize, crap, there goes my progress.

80s Hollywood movie making behind the scenes is a wonderful setup for a horror game. An atmospheric game with great music and an animated and consistent retro art style. The writing was mostly good. Well researched, some likeable and (intentionally of course) hateable characters, a satisfying main protagonist character arc and maybe a few slightly stiff lines. Very fast pace after a slightly slower start. Personally I'd rather have no voice acting than bad VO, so that was fine with me. The horror aspects got a little too intense for my taste right at the end when it switched from "True Detective" to something more like [spoiler]"Hellraiser"[/spoiler] in tone. I enjoyed the previous two chapters more, but you can't say it doesn't pack a punch. Puzzles were fine, mostly straightforward with only very few hickups.

honestly one of the best PnC games I've played : plenty of real life references and lore, a fascinating period in time lovingly rendered, good albeit very simple puzzles, an intriguing story and two amazing tone shifts from the sundrenched los angeles slow start into bleak american gothic. The setting and mood are the greatest accomplishment, with the movie and hollywood lore nostalgically guiding you through a sick, twisted and honestly depraved trip into the search for the absolute. The ending sequence is pretty weak and the supernatural element is way too simplicistic to truly engage, but everything else is really on point. I wholeheartedly recommend it to any lover of point n click adventure games.
