Nightside is a science-fiction real-time strategy game developed and published by OMNIDREAM CREATIONS that combines traditional RTS systems with a distinctive environmental mechanic built around darkness and visibility. Blending base construction, resource gathering, tactical combat, and faction-based warfare, the game creates a strategy experience that feels familiar in structure while introducing enough unique ideas to establish its own identity. Rather than relying entirely on established genre conventions, Nightside builds much of its gameplay around environmental conditions that constantly influence battlefield awareness and strategic planning. The setting immediately separates the game from more traditional science-fiction strategy titles. Players are sent to a distant world trapped in permanent darkness, where survival and expansion revolve around securing an important resource known as green ice. Multiple civilizations compete for control over this valuable material, creating conflict that extends across hostile terrain where visibility itself becomes one of the most important resources available. Darkness is not simply visual presentation. It becomes a defining gameplay m…
Honestly I don't know why I refunded this game, it has 4 unique factions with their own playstyles. I loved how each and every one played and I've yet to complete the campaign, that being said no game is without it's gripes. Weird selection rules for units/buildings why ctrl+left click lol everything else though was pretty nice I honestly recommend this, though with it's unique playstyle, it's more of an advanced sort of RTS When Nightside 2 comes out I'll happily play that too, hopefully all the factions here will be seen in the new one. Also would be nice if in the new game, you could construct sub-home stations that have the exact capabilities as the motherships but to a lesser extent.
very creative factions unique atmosphere (darkness)
Clever lighting effects and the game looks good, but lacks content. Not even worth the five dollars or the time to install, on the other hand it could be a fine gift for a much younger player. There's really nothing more to say.
Gameplay-wise it's a good game but I can't recommend this game because of optimization issues. The Recommended requirements are a lie. I have better than what is recommended and I have major frame drops as levels progress (like down to the thirty and forty fps range.)
