Players praise this bullet hell as a beautifully crafted gem with exceptional art direction, outstanding music, and inventive world-building revealed through its scanning mechanic, while finding it accessible enough for genre newcomers despite the challenging difficulty. The cast of distinct, well-written characters with unique mechanics and the abundance of discoverable lore in the journal sections are frequently highlighted as standout features. Some players report technical bugs like dialogue skipping and life counter issues, though these appear occasional rather than widespread complaints.
An outstanding look into the future of shmups! Takes the Touhou formula into something very uniquely special with its abstract fantasy setting and exquisite world-building discoverable due to the scanning mechanic. Despite it's advances into the potential of the bullet hell genre, it's actually very easy for a bullet hell! It makes this a great introduction for new players that would want to explore this genre as it's quite forgiving with it's amount of lives as well as bullet patterns which make this very approachable for something of this caliber before getting into the harder difficulties. The cast of characters are great! The playable characters all have unique special attacks and their perks that are worth a try although Empitts is hands-down the easiest character to do a full run with as she gifted with bonus lives and the best balance of speed and utility. The bosses and the enemies are unforgettable with their surreal appearances and multi-media visual style that tell vast stories with their looks alone, which applies to the boss spell cards as well. (When was the last time I've seen rotting teeth being used as projectiles in a bullet hell? Let alone any game!) Learning abo…4 found this helpful
Great game, I like the lore and how it is obtained. It's also hard, but that's to be expected from a bullet hell.3 found this helpful
Nociception 1 ~ Voltaic Marketplace Review Nociception 1 ~ Voltaic Marketplace is an underrated gem that blends high-energy music with fast-paced, precision-based gameplay. As a unique rhythm-aim trainer hybrid, it stands out by offering an experience that not only hones mechanical skill but also immerses players in an electrifying audiovisual spectacle. The Music – A Sonic Masterpiece One of the strongest aspects of Nociception 1 is its soundtrack. The music is an absolute banger, fueling the intensity of the game with pulsating beats and futuristic melodies. The tracks are designed to sync perfectly with gameplay, making every action feel fluid and rewarding. Whether you’re casually vibing or sweating through a tough level, the soundtrack keeps you locked in. Aiming Training Disguised as Fun While Nociception 1 is a game in its own right, it doubles as an excellent training tool for improving aim in other games. The mechanics demand precision, quick reflexes, and hand-eye coordination, making it a great supplement for FPS and rhythm game players alike. Unlike traditional aim trainers that can feel repetitive, Nociception 1 keeps you engaged with its stylish visuals and dynam…2 found this helpful
For a free game, you could spend hours from just reading the lore alone in the journal section! The art style and usage of colors really pops out from other bullet shooter games, I had to pause many times throughout the game just so I can admire the attention to detail the spell cards have. This creator put their all into this game, you can really tell! The music was just outstanding, I immediately recognized the artist, and when I saw their name in the credits, I practically jumped for joy. Nociception soundtrack when? Now, I do have some criticisms I would like to address. There are a lot of bugs, at least on my playthrough. Before the last stage, I somehow got 99 lives which did not go down even when I died? I'm not too sure if this was intentional or not, dialogue will randomly skip at different intervals, which made it rather frustrating since I wanted to know what characters were saying, since every character has different interactions depending who you play as! Finally, at the bonus stage, when I had a game over, the screen just went completely black, which made navigating the menu difficult to even try to restart or do anything else, so I had to exit fully. I'll be sure to…1 found this helpful
(i played the itch version, so my hours aren't accurate) The world this bullet hell takes place in is really unique, sorta having a cozy and surreal aesthetic. The characters all look really distinct from eachother, though they all fit together in a single art-style somehow, and they're all pretty well-written, having eccentric and fun, but also cohesive motivations for their actions, along with intricate and sometimes tragic backstories that align with their designs/personalities. Some of the playable characters are also teams, so you get to see dialogue between lots of characters at once. There's also TONS of interesting lore about the world in the main menu, sorta like a game manual giving bios of different characters/locations, implying that this game only shows a fraction of the massive lovely world full of themed ghosts and wacky creatures the game takes place in, and judging by the fact that this is only the 1st (ish) game in a series with another game on the way, that seems to be the case. A lot of the stage music/character themes are fun and chaotic, though there are also some nice themes with a more serious tone for mysterious and scary characters/areas. The bullet pat…1 found this helpful
i highly recommend this game!! the mechanics are easy to understand, the characters are interesting, and the music is very well made. the difficulties are well balanced as well, and i love the detail of having each character you can play as respond differently to the same thing. i'll definitely be trying to get every journal entry!! (if i even get good enough to beat easy mode 😅)
