Northern Regime: 1862 is a hardcore survival game set against the backdrop of the American Civil War, in the frozen and frigid landscape of Northern Dakota. It’s you against the environment and all its inherent dangers as you tackle Confederate soldiers, aggressive wildlife and cold itself to keep yourself alive.
Hunger in Northern Regime is an important aspect in the wild. You can find food and water in enemy camps which is sometimes a rarity, as well, it is very risky. The most common way to maintain an appropriate hunger level is by hunting with your trusty rifle. Killing deer will give you in between 1-3 pieces of meat. The difficult part is not exerting too much energy. The more energy you waste by running and firing your rifle will cause increased hunger. If you fail to kill a buck you've been hunting for could cause death. Hunting and hunger will require a unique strategy for your survival.
Using real-world geographical data, we have developed a living, breathing representation of the Fargo region of North Dakota for you to explore. Be careful not to get sucked in by the environment’s beauty, though, as danger lurks around every corner.
In addition to sustaining yourself with food and water, you’ll have to keep your wits about you to fend off the attention of bears, Confederate soldiers and later on in development, many more potential aggressors. You’ll need to craft weapons and ammunition to repel these threats where necessary!
Trading and Coercing is Planned but not officially in Nothern Regime
Northern Dakota is filled with NPCs who will react to you in a specific way based on your reputation. You’ll need to increase your standings with individual factions through crafting and trading with them in order to bring them round to your way of thinking! With travelers, traders and refugees wandering the environment and numerous settlements to find, you’ll have ample opportunities to make friends…or enemies.

It's a perfect money trap. You give your money voluntarily and think that you've bought something useful. At the first sight you think that you made a good decision by giving your money. Suddenly, you realize that you're being robbed. But it's already too late. Don't even think to buy it. It was abandoned already.9 found this helpful
Sooo.. I was kinda wondering why none of my friends had seemingly tried this game. Yeah, yeah, it might not have any cards, but there's still the achievements? So I tried. About half an hour until I uninstalled and placed it inside my big folder of steam poop. First of all, it runs craptastic. And I didn't really understand anything either. I'm not known for being S-M-R-T, but I'm not that dumb. Am I? So I was this guy, everything was a blur. I could run. Neat. I could pick up some stones, but not all stones. And some wood, but not all wood. I was basically just running around, clicking like crazy, hoping the hand icon would pop up so I knew I actually got something. I finally got enough resources to make myself an axe and a pickaxe. The axe could only chop down certain trees, it was kinda strict because I clipped through nearly 80% of the trees I tried. Never got the pickaxe to work, as I clipped through all of them. I'm also pretty sure the guy dislocated his arm whenever he took a swing with whatever he held. Flash forward to some random bear sounds out of nowhere. I think I saw the butt of a bear once, in the distance. Although the growning was in my ear. It wasn't really …9 found this helpful

Do not buy this! As stated by others, this has been abandoned by the Dev ( who constantly posted problems with his computer overheating before he did a runner). He has not been anywhere near this since February! The idea of the game was good but evything else is poor ( except the Dev who now has everyones money!) Steam should not have this still on sale and should also monitor what it sells in future.8 found this helpful
I have never felt more let-down for a game. This is a game? This looks like a walking simulation. Damn man. What the hell happened to gaming? It used to be fun and something to look forward to. Now, it just seems like a way to scam people and take advantage of the adventurous minded looking for entertainment. Games were more than just mindless acts of repetition, but a way to submerse into the life of a character that you can relate to and feel for. It was a way to delve into a story and lose yourself. This... is nothing. This is a book with not only the absence of writing, but pages too. Be ashamed for the production of this game. I couldn't play more than 0.1 hours because I wanted to, but I wasn't allowed. I kept having wording superimpose over my view and the movements of the character would glitch and stop walking. The crafting system is barbaric and basic. Dont buy.3 found this helpful
