Really enjoying this, great humour and puzzles! Reminds me of the classics, love the hook of having to kick everyone out :D2 found this helpful
I'm a sucker for anything retro and pixelated so I was immediately drawn to this game. Wasn't dissapointed at all. The rich character development was a plus I didn't expect. I hope a sequel comes out some day.2 found this helpful
Not Another Weekend, developed by Animatic Vision and Dead Blue Friends and published by Dionous Games, is a quirky point-and-click adventure that embraces the spirit of classic titles while making a conscious effort to smooth out some of the genre’s more frustrating edges. Set entirely within the walls of Hotel 404, the game places you in the shoes of Mike Melkout, a socially awkward bellboy with a strange and increasingly questionable objective: to clear the hotel of every guest and staff member over the course of a single weekend. It’s an unusual premise that immediately sets the tone for a game that thrives on odd humor, exaggerated characters, and a constant sense of unpredictability. The decision to confine the entire experience to one location turns out to be one of the game’s greatest strengths. Instead of sprawling across multiple disconnected areas, every room, hallway, and facility within the hotel becomes part of a tightly interwoven puzzle space. Actions in one area often ripple into others, and characters move through the environment in ways that make the setting feel alive. This design keeps the experience focused and helps maintain a steady sense of progression, ev…1 found this helpful
3/5 Not Another Weekend is an overrated game and I have to give it a "thumbs down" as a warning to people who will NOT like this game. While the nostalgia for games they don't make anymore is strong enough to make gamers of a certain vintage have a decent time playing the game, it's not "good". And, more than this, about 25% of the "puzzles" are actively bad. This is a game that breaks the contract with players fairly early that puzzles shouldn't be "stupid". You should play this game with a guide and if you get stuck for more than a few minutes, look up the solution and move on. There is a very high degree that the solution is something you would literally never figure out. The worst puzzle, for example, features a solution that is a bad joke. In order to quickly thaw a frozen meatloaf, you need to not use the available hair drier in the game, but rather instead take the frozen meatloaf to a couple having a first date so that a man can tell a bad joke and "break the ice". This is, again, something I would literally have never figured out had I not looked up a solution. Not EVERY puzzle in the game is like this, but enough of them are that it is not a good use of time to struggl…1 found this helpful
Fun game and story, but would have never finished it without the walkthrough. Buy in sale,
There's a lot to be liked here, but also a lot not to like. The interface is generally pretty good, the graphics are very reminiscent of the Lucasarts era, music is good, SFX are OK. The puzzles? They vary. Between "OK, sure, that makes sense" through to "that was just f**king ridiculous". The ratio is about 1:10. If you want logical puzzles, wrong game. If you want stories that make sense or are fulfilling when you finish something? Wrong game. If you want meaningless EVERYTHING, regularly ludicrous "I would never guess that in a million years" puzzles and a very deflating ending: You hit gold! We persevered because hey, 90s point and clicks had many a frustrating moment. We used a walkthrough when we got frustrated, so maybe 50% of the time. And then the end... well, we never got to see that in-game because the game bugged and we ended on the last screen with the item needed to do the very last thing... disappeared from inventory. So that was it. 9hrs in, cannot complete the game. Great :/ So, watched it on YouTube! And, god I wish I hadn't. Just nonsensical piffle. It's like they just phoned the end in to get it out of the way. "Oh, for god's sake, really?" was pretty much…
