do not buy. this is sadly not a finished game. i really hoped it was. but this is just a paid version of the demo that was free. and when i got to the end of what i thought was going to be the first level, it just said "thanks for playing the demo" and ended.......

Wait a minute... Is this really just the demo? After about half an hour, I reached a point that said (press) "space to end demo", then I got an ending and credits scene before ending up back in the main menu. Maybe that was an oversight, but the devs haven't shown any activity at all here. So, big heads-up. Other than that... It's about as weird and trippy as you might expect. There's a lot of talk about meditation and chakras and stuff with some chat speak, which didn't really land for me. The idea of awakening Mother Ocean and all that is beautiful though. I don't regret playing, and don't really regret paying for this apparent demo either. Even after just half an hour, I feel like I emerged from a dive into a strange but calming world. Definitely recommended for those who are into New Age stuff and psychedelics, others may or may not enjoy it. If you find yourself being drawn in by the artwork, go for it. Paloma Dawkins is an incredibly talented artist and this game was a beautiful immersion into the worlds she creates. It is a short experience, but difficult to describe without comparing it to other games or artwork, and that's a habit I think we should be avoiding. Her work really is special on its own. It's not a particularly deep story, anyone who has started their own "psychonaut" journey will be familiar with the themes. It's more like swimming through a painting, or more appropriately jumping around planets in low gravity. This game will not hold up to the hour / cost analysis we usually do for games. This is buying a piece of digital art. For me, it introduced me to Dawkins work. It is a resonate experience I strongly recommend to any who are curious - happy to spend the $5.

Absolutely beautiful! The worlds feel so alive and creative. I found myself often stopping and sitting, watching in amazement. The way movement led to even more elaborate art was magical. Check out Gardenarium here on Steam and everything that Apocablyss has on itch.io
