Levels are grid-based, corridors are angular and labyrinthine, and enemies are represented by flat, digitized sprites that move within limited animation cycles. The most boring level design in any game, it feels like the devs remade the same map over 30 times. Exceptions being those early levels with rats and slime monsters and a couple of late game ones. But they added some quirks to Wolf3d engine like being able to destroy walls with a bazooka. The walls can get pockmarked by bullets and glass shatters. Yet you can't properly shoot through doorways even if the door is open. The game's too old to talk about AI. The enemies rush you and some of them lie in ambush. Then you go room to room popping them in one identical room after another. Once the game thinks you've shot enough it lets you enter an elevator or stairs to the next copypaste floor.

Operation Body Count? More like "Operation Pest Control"... 5 stages in and it's been nothing but sewers... where your'e fighting nothing but giant rats, swamp monsters and fat homeless guys with uzis...
