Over the Alps

An interesting plot, looks lovely, generally fun to play. It got repetitive and a couple of the characters really annoyed me.

I am extremely glad that they finally finished the game, i have the utmost respect for that.

Beautifully animated visual-novel type game with excellent writing and choices that really seem to invite more playthroughs. Hoping to see more great narratives from the team.

Really well-written. Rather short, but you can tell it is quite replayable. Shame it never got the intended 3rd story but the 2 that are there can be very well worth a play.

Entertaining, but overall disappointing. Since it’s a linear visual novel with set outcomes, the writing works best when it builds up intrigue. Unfortunately, the game tends to reveal the climax of plot points way too early, dedicating the rest of your playtime to scenarios where “You have to chase person X, but person Y is also chasing them, get there first”. However, they don’t really work if they feel inconsequential at the end, when it matters. The minor variations might be entertaining while playing, but if the player makes mistakes and despite them they catch up to their opponent, or the opponent eventually catches up to them despite making no errors, it’s not hard for all of that to be viewed as padding in retrospect. There were also some instances of the “I didn’t expect it meant THAT when I chose it” dialogue options that are common with semi linear choose your own adventure games. What makes them pretty bad, though, was the lack of option to manually save, having to rely on reloading autosaves, hoping that your desired one wasn’t overwritten.
