About Penny Black
After finally plucking up the courage, you – the nameless protagonist –
asked your school classmate out on a date. Her name was Penny Black,
a girl slightly shorter than most girls her age, with short black hair
and bright blue eyes.
To your surprise, she accepted your proposal! The meeting point was just
outside the Soma Cinema Complex, Saturday at eleven o’clock. This is where
your little adventure… or misadventure begins…
- Penny Black plays similar to a traditional text adventure; type in certain words in order to progress the game.
- More than 25,000 words.
- 30 minutes – 2 hours game time.
- Different endings that are determined throughout certain choices.
- Hidden choices that could either spell success or disaster.
- A massive 200kb to install!
Keep in mind that there is no save function, but it is relatively straightforward enough to remember the choices you made and progress through the story quickly.
Penny Black is just a simple game I made in my spare time using BBC Basic for Windows. Though nothing special, I see it as a small step towards making better programs in the future.

This game was a suprise, I loved the idea and its execution. I have gotten a B grade so far but I plan to experiment a little bit with the different choices and outcomes that the game offers. The narrative is very inetresting and the pace is really good too, and it's free you all. I really recommend it!6 found this helpful
This game is pretty sweet, actually. You've just talked the local cute goth girl into finally going out on a date and now it's up to you not to screw things up. Honestly, Penny is very nice, but you're going to have to pull off some interesting stunts in order to impress her enough for her to not say "let's just be friends" by the end of the game. It's a very British game in dialogue and personality, and if that's your cup of tea then you're all set. It's not super long either as you can get through a playthrough in 40 minutes or so, although if you're taking your time and trying for the highest score possible it'll take you longer. Игровой процесс, построенный на сортировке писем и решении небольших загадок, довольно медитативный и увлекает на долгое время. Особенно приятно открывать новые кусочки истории, узнавая подробности о жизни разных людей. Сюжет развивается неспешно, предлагая множество интересных персонажей и их личных драм. Хотелось бы, конечно, больше глубины в некоторых историях, но в целом повествование оставляет приятное впечатление. Единственное, что немного огорчило – это небольшая продолжительность игры. Хотелось бы еще больше писем, загадок и историй из мира 'Penny Black'! В остальном же, это отличная инди-игра, которая заслуживает внимания. Рекомендую всем, кто ищет что-то спокойное, атмосферное и немного ностальгическое.
