Having played around in this world for a little bit, I must say I'm intrigued. I never play RPGs, and I seldom do point-and-click-type things, but I found the surreal old-school aesthetic charming enough to draw me in. I am undoubtedly terrible at the game but I think if it looks like your thing, you will probably enjoy it!5 found this helpful
I got bored at 5am and decided to sort new releases on steam by release date and found this game. I've been playing this game for about 2 hours now and as the first official Pepperer id like to say this game is amazing. I'm so lost in my journey. I will be sharing this game with friends, I must spread the good word of Pepper Odyssey. It's a calming, very interesting, and very unique experience so far. This oddball survival-lite adventure is slow-paced and a bit grindy, but in a zen sort of way. The gameplay loop mostly consists of exploring the different areas of the island to gather currency and supplies while making your way towards one of the game's multiple endings. The island isn't large and you'll be seeing the same locations frequently, but it's less about moving constantly forward and more about deciding what to explore and when, based on your current supplies and needs. Combat is frequent and dangerous. Enemies can be defeated either with raw violence or with dialogue, which takes the form of reading poems, screeds, and textbooks to your opponent. I found this to be the more reliable approach, since your gun and knife will often miss, but you'll need the right literature on hand. Your approach to combat also influences your reputation, which will determine which of the game's factions will give you their endgame quest (if you decide to approach them at all - there are other endings as well).
