About Pierrot à la Mode
Welcome to your first day on the job, new guy. Here at Dairy Clown, we strive ourselves on quick, efficient service -- that's why our ice cream moves across a conveyor belt! Get ready to serve dish after dish, all while wearing a smile on your face (or a frown, it doesn't matter as long as it's painted on)!
Take control of the New Guy during his first few days at the local clown-owned ice-cream parlor, Dairy Clown. Create frozen concoctions for your customers by applying toppings as the ice-cream goes whizzing past on a conveyor belt -- but watch out for Clown Mode, which will cause everything to shift around and speed up!
This game uses photographs taken with a Game Boy Camera for character portraits and some key graphics, and was built in the span of 2 weeks for the Big Mode Game Jam. This new version contains numerous bugfixes and a new ending variation if you receive a perfect score across all 3 days of the story.
Pierrot à la Mode features a runtime of approximately 15-20 minutes, three different endings, and will give you a small glimpse of what life was like in Divinity City before the Upgrade Virus hit. Enjoy a bite-sized look at Elyris and its strange inhabitants in this precursor to Gas Station Story!

Pierrot à la Mode – A Bite-Sized, Clown-Themed Ice Cream Chaos Pierrot à la Mode is a quirky, retro-styled minigame that puts you in the shoes of a new employee at Dairy Clown, a clown-owned ice cream parlor. With its pixelated visuals, Game Boy Camera character portraits, and fast-paced conveyor belt gameplay, this game offers a fun but short experience. What to Expect ✔ Fast-Paced Ice Cream Serving – Add toppings as ice cream zooms by on a conveyor belt. ✔ Chaotic Clown Mode – A sudden difficulty spike where everything speeds up and shifts around. ✔ Multiple Endings – Three different outcomes, including a special one for a perfect score. ✔ Retro Aesthetic – Game Boy-style pixel art and photographs add a unique touch. What Could Be Improved? ❌ Story Feels Minimal – While the setting is fun, the narrative takes a backseat to the gameplay. ❌ Very Short Runtime – The experience lasts around 15-20 minutes with limited replayability. ❌ Simple Mechanics – The main focus is the minigame, which might not appeal to those expecting a deeper story. Final Verdict If you're looking for a quick, unique arcade-style game with a bizarre and charming atmosphere, Pierrot à la Mode is worth a try…3 found this helpful
Tentatively recommend. It was generally inoffensive. I was expecting writing to have a heavier focus, but the meat of the game is entirely the icecream topping minigame, so I was a bit disappointed.1 found this helpful
I think that anyone who plays Gas Station Story should also play this game. It provides a little more world building and a pretty fun + increasingly difficult ice cream assembly mini game. Like the other game, the aesthetic, character portraits, color palate, and general ~ vibes ~ are wonderfully bleak.
This one is a tentative recommendation from me. As a disclaimer, I didn't play through all the endings. I liked the art and vibes a lot but I found the minigame sections way too long. The minigame is the majority of the gameplay and it isn't bad, I just wanted it to be about half as long as it was since it got repetitive.
