It's the year 2249, most resources on earth are nearly depleted and have lead to many conflicts in the past.
Despite those crises, humanity made huge progress in the fields of AI, which in turn allowed for enormous advances in space travel.
Scientists were even able to create a new kind of engine, which made it possible to travel faster than light. But on the downside humans were not able to survive this way of transportation.
In a last desperate attempt and in search for new resources, the EIRO (European Interstellar Resource Organization) built a brand new ship which was only controlled by an AI named "Athena".
Hoping that the AI can survive the jump and begin autonomous exploration and exploitation of resources, the ship is launched into an unknown future...

Rough around the edges.... Diamond in the rough.... Edit after playing some more: (Devs I have wishlist / recommendations at the bottom of the review) - I expected somthing like Mindustry, DSP, Factorio, etc. - This is more like the old Warcraft 3 TD games where you need to figure out how to approach each map and wave. Plan your building sequence with your limited money. - This is the Distant Worlds / Dominions of the tower defence genre -> Crazy amount of features and UI is a struggle. But if you push through and learn it is damn REWARDING and FUN. No game breaking bugs or crashes. Needs polish and some QOL stuff.... learning curve / unlocks is confusing (objectives helped). that said.... - I like the random range (which isn't punishing like other games) - Unlocking and progression is fun - Maps are good with a nice verity. - Towers and Customisation/Builds is fun. - Factory building is fun but feels like it is a 'extra' not sure but I am almost at the last planet and didn't really need to do a lot of automation. Maybe I am missing something end game... will see when I get there. Edit: Yeah factory building for me is end game read below: Still 9/10 from me. Good complicated …

I've had fun with this game! It has an interesting mechanic, and I've sunk a lot of hours into it. I played it through, and returned to it and played it through again.

Game has potential, but in the current state it's not doing much with it. The overall gameplay is: [olist] [*]You play a tower defense map until you get overrun. [*]Each enemy you managed to kill gives you resources and experience. [*]You use those resources and experience to improve your towers and your base. [*]You can easily build Factorio-like automation in your base to process resources and keep items in stock. [*]You can also invest resources into what's essentially a tech tree. [*]You can also invest resources into "modified" recipes that allow you to get stronger items by pouring more raw materials into longer (and thus harder to automate) production chains. [*]Eventually you also gain access to mining outposts, secondary bases that produce a steady trickle of resources and can have their own automation. [/olist] This is great, in theory. In practice, every single area is lacking. To give a few examples: [list] [*]I completed the first half of the tower defense maps using only ONE tower out of the 6 available, the basic gun tower you start with: that was not a self-imposed challenge, early game the tower skill trees disproportionately benefi…
