About Ad Astra: Sci-Fi Tower Defense
In the distant future, humanity scours alien worlds for valuable resources to fuel the ceaseless tide of human expansion. On their quest, they encounter a machine-race powered by a sentient artificial intelligence that spans the galaxy & competes with humanity for control across the stars. Commander, you are tasked with meeting this challenge & securing dominance for our people. Your mission: to protect vital outposts & build a foothold across alien worlds scattered across the cosmos, each containing precious resources that could turn the tides of war.Feature Highlights:
- Build & conquer: Construct a slew of resource-gathering structures as you fight to defend them from the incoming horde. Balance structure deployment with defenses to best the incoming machine-hordes.
- High-Tech Towers: Deploy an array of futuristic towers equipped with destructive cannons, laser arrays, & missile salvos to obliterate the machine menace. Be warned, you're just as liable to destroy your own infrastructure if you're not careful; mind your line of fire, Commander.
- Tiers of destruction: Advance through Tiers 1-3 of each tower to keep up with the strengthening tides of enemies. Can you balance the harvest of advanced metals, gases, composites & build more powerful tiers of defenses to protect your operations?
- Diverse Alien Enemies: Face off against a multitude of alien machine species, each with unique strengths & weaknesses. Adapt your strategies to counter armored mecha-beasts, swift infiltrators, shielded behemoths, & swarms of bio-mechanical inspired monstrosities.
- Dynamic Environments: Defend outposts in varying terrains, from rocky hills to icy alien moons & the scorching deserts of distant planets. Each environment presents its own ambience & hurdles.
- Bumpin' Beats: Enjoy the epic retro arcade sci-fi tunes by Ovani Sound. Use the Music Player to find your favorite beats and rock on to victory, or hop into the menu and adjust the independent sound sliders to your preference.
- Steam Deck: The game runs on Steam Deck with "Low" graphical settings. I am awaiting official review & compatibility status designation from Valve.
- Steam Cloud: Pick up where you left off on any PC or your Steam Deck thanks to Steam Cloud saves.

Interesting offering, I got it for under 2 bucks US, so I';m not refunding, but I doubt I will play again. For starters, it has that questionable pop up trying to take me to an off site website to 'fix' my drivers. Never, ever do that, is my advice. That said, the game has an interesting look, but falls short. There are levels of towers, but you don't seem to be able to upgrade a tower, which is irritating. There is a marked lack of info, sliding the mouse over things on the screen offers no information, I have no clue what the range of my weapons are (a pretty important thing for a tower defense game) and the enemies so far are bland and lifeless. Even a little bit of fluff would have gone a good way towards giving the game some flavor and a reason to continue. It really does fall short on a lot of the things that make a tower defense game work, and as such, I can only give this a thumbs down.
Nice idea, but horribly done. You're totally lost at first, what you are supposed to do. You are just thrown in and have to figure out things on your own. So I got immediately stuck, by not having enough resources to build the one structure which would start everything. Consider this a bug, because it becomes imposssible to start the 1st wave, even. The interface lacks everything of a good interface, even the most basic UI concepts are completely missing. Bad fonts, bad music, bad camera distance ... and then bad and slow pace. I mean, it's hard to find something good at this, except maybe the idea of having of a terrain like this. This is an unfinished game, like a prototype at best, nothing improved after using some placeholder stuff. I really can't suggest this. It should be not considered even early access...
Amazing game from a solo dev! Great way to spend a few hours on a round, and the music rocks!
Classic feel game, enjoying it so far. Definitely challenging and fun, great soundtrack. Careful where you place your missile turrets don't end up destroying your base like I did \-_-/ 🤣
Time well spent :]
This has been good fun so far. Well priced, cool enemies, simple but really hard xD
