About Project: Gemini

Jump, Dash, Shoot and Smash your way through a Neon City that has been taken over by swarms of Corrupted Drone Police force.

Project: Gemini is a Co-op game that sees Guttierez (Gutz) and Cricket work closely together to escape the city. Gutz acts as the foundation of the duo, providing stability and safety and is equipped with an automatically recharging shield to block attacks. Cricket is the tactical operative, supplying versatility and opportunity with her ranged weaponry and stun-kick. They can only survive by working in tandem and combining their unique set of skills.

Navigate your way through the futuristic city and destroy any evil drones that stand in your path. They've set up auto turrets, barbed wire and even road blocks at certain checkpoints in an attempt to prevent your escape from their tyrannical rule. Find and hit levers to open doors, then fight your way out of an arena of drones sent to capture you.

This game was developed as a student project at DigiPen Institute of Technology and was created for educational purposes only. Please check out our publisher page for more information.

Project: Gemini is another student project from DigiPen institute, a small private university in Washington state. It's a 2 player only (no more, no less) shared screen co-op puzzle/action platformer where you control two protagonists through a sci-fi themed story driven platformer. I think this year the students probably passed, the visuals are great, there's 4K support and the game mostly just works. One of the better things about these DigiPen institute games is that DigiPen correctly teaches the students that it's not acceptable to use retro pixel "art" as a crutch to make up for an inability to do graphics properly. On the downside here, I can't really recommend this for a few reasons. Console peasant childrens toy controller prompts are an insult to PC gamers. Controls are locked so you can't do anything to fix the control scheme. There's an ugly screen filter you can't turn off, that distorts and makes the otherwise tolerable art in the game look worse than it should. The decision to enforce multiplayer in the game blocks out a large part of the potential audience for the game. Developers must learn to ensure games have at least some appeal for the gaming public i…

I was thankful that, although there's no settings or even an informational panel for controls, the game still allowed me to play both characters with the connected controller and keyboard respectively. As I began to do so, I found fun in the awkward rhythm of controlling them simultaneously, before my play was ended by an unspecified crash. After that I decided to make use of the charitable "Teleport to Boss" button; if I was able to handle that challenge by my lonesome, playing the rest of the game would then seem to be a tedious and ultimately comparable experience. The final stage of the boss required a bit of luck and a mad dash before the spinning lasers caught up with the character I couldn't be bothered to move out of the way, in favor of winning the fight. Unfortunately, once I did win, the game crashed again, and I then resorted to the "Win Game Immediately" button. The game is a Nerve beater with a signature helper element that defines the co-operative scope; each character's abilities effectively lead to specific combat advantages for the other. A pair of characters that can swap onto the same control scheme seems achievable, or perhaps even a keyboard scheme that contr…
