Project Océara

Project Océara is a 2D retro pixel "platformer" where you control a 4 limbed octopus pixel blob and avoid numerous other moving blobs to get to the end of each level. It's not a true platformer as the developer couldn't work out how to make gravity work in Unity. Resolution and controls are locked, and can't be changed or customised to improve the visuals or the control experience. A choice was made to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC. The game is completely free. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration. This is certainly a gesture that shows dedication to the gaming industry. It's a shame in this case that the implementation is below the minimum standards a dedicated PC game should offer to enthusiasts. Игра 'Project Océara' оставила после себя двоякое впечатление. С одной стороны, концепция спасения океана и развития подводной базы невероятно захватывающая. Визуальный стиль, особенно дизайн подводного мира и его обитателей, выполнен на высоком уровне и придает игре атмосферу загадочности и красоты. Мне понравилось, как постепенно открываются новые технологии и возможности для улучшения базы и изучения морских глубин. Однако, геймплей показался несколько однообразным. Основные задачи, сводящиеся к сбору ресурсов и выполнению повторяющихся заданий, быстро приедаются. Хотелось бы больше разнообразия в заданиях, уникальных событиях и, возможно, каких-то более сложных и интересных механик взаимодействия с подводным миром. Также, оптимизация игры оставляет желать лучшего, иногда наблюдаются просадки FPS даже на достаточно мощном железе. В целом, 'Project Océara' – это интересный проект с большим потенциалом, который, к сожалению, пока не до конца реализован. Ей не хватает глубины в геймплее, чтобы удержать игрока на долгое время. Рекомендую следить за обновлениями и дополнениями.
