Rapture: World Conquest is a really fast strategy game that takes the basic idea of conquering the world and squeezes it into matches that can last only a few minutes. I am basically playing as a god, building up a civilisation, sending armies into nearby regions and trying to control as much of the planet as possible before the end arrives. I like the idea because it removes a lot of the waiting that normally comes with this kind of strategy game. I do not need to spend hours building an empire before anything interesting happens. From the moment I start, I am already thinking about where to expand and how quickly I can take the next region. The army system is very simple, but that does not mean I have nothing to think about. I can choose where to send my forces, decide which regions are worth taking and manage different bonuses that affect things like population growth, military production, mana and technological progress. The problem is that the matches move so quickly that some of these systems can feel less important than they should. I often find myself building up a large army and then sending it across the map in a massive rush. That is fun when it works, but it also means…
