About Red Rampant: Chapter 1
Red Rampant is a narrative-driven action-adventure game set during the Scottish Wars of Independence and Robert the Bruce’s wrestle for the Scottish crown. The default outcome of our narrative is crushing annihilation for the fledgling Scottish rebellion, but through the enigmatic Rewind Potion, gifted by the shrouded figure of The Alchemist, players can literally reverse defeat and steal victory. With the ability to travel back in time through their memories of previous gameplay and begin again, players use knowledge gained from past mistakes and hindsight of future events to rewrite the history books.
Red Rampant respects history in telling this story but it also embraces the mythological wrappings of Robert the Bruce’s iconic underdog tale. Players will explore a grounded, war-torn Scotland but also discover moments of the fantastical… if they have the curiosity to look. Navigating this war-weary Scotland, players will face a guerrilla campaign against the medieval world’s greatest military force amid sharpening knives in every shifting shadow as Bruce’s ego makes enemies in every corner of the country.
Some choices made promising hope and others the blackest doom. How would you write Scotland’s history?

Very broken mechanics there is no explanation what is block and what is attack. This is like some collage kids programming game then a actual game. This game should be free if anything. The walking was terrible the positive review makes me question the authenticity of this. It like a terrible cash and grab.8 found this helpful
This game is full of creative decisions and writing that I can only describe as wonderfully ephemeral. I was surprised at how the gameplay choices even in this short chapter feel fresh and have me looking forward to future releases. The combat and some animations are definitely rough at the moment but for me that is easily able to be looked passed in order to explore what promises to be a deep and engaging narrative steeped in Scottish history.3 found this helpful
Red Rampant: Chapter 1 is a promising start to a historical epic. Set during the Scottish Wars of Independence, The strengths of the game are its excellent world-building and voiced dialogue with fully realised player choice. The rewind potion is what sets this game apart as it's own unique time-travelling narrative. There is some combat the quality of life roughness but the ideas and core of Red Rampant are promising. Chapter 1 feels like the start of grand narrative that I hope we can see!2 found this helpful
Red Rampant is so many things - an excellent story, a stellar example of Scottish creativity and how proud we are of our history. The voice acting, the music, the world building all culminates in creating a world you can get lost in for a wee while. I've been anticipating the release of this for some time and i'm glad to finally getting to sit down and play it. I'll check back in once i've wrapped Chapter 1 up. Less than a tenner for the experience of it is mental too. Well done to the devs!2 found this helpful
coming from an actual scottish person this is just terrible. tried playing it again since chapter 1 is in full release and honestly its not and i see no difference from the early access.... quite disappointed really
There really isn't any traditional Scottish narrative games around and this game really brings that rich area of history to life With some stellar voice acting, complimented with lovely music and an interesting mechanic of rewinding time to make a better choice - which doesn't feel burdensome at all replaying sections with newfound knowledge Excited for the next chapter!
