Very bland and unchallenging. Terrible mechanic where your shot powers down as you shoot. Update: I've removed the stuff about the leaderboards being broken since the devs say it's been patched. Also, I discovered that you are awarded points for stars remaining at the end of the game, so if you're frugal, you can get a big end of game bonus. The problem is that powerup drops throughout the stages seem to be random, so somebody who has a lucky run can keep their shot power up and get a few lucky bomb drops and not really have to spend anything in the shop. edit: Aaaaah! There is a hidden mechanic. Once you get 100 stars, each star you pick up gives you an extra life, so don't spend anything in the shop, and then you can just tank your way through the final boss and get a huge bonus. I spent a load of money on bombs before the final stage on my most recent run and I didn't have to! I was wondering "hang on, where did all those extra lives come from?!" Edit: yup that's the way to score big. Spend nothing in the shop, tank your way through the final boss https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DugRvCvOSOg edit:To be fair to the devs, they say they're gonna change the mechanics based on feedbac…

This is a very difficult game for me to review. It barely gets a pass from me, because the game itself is solid. It's a good little retro shooter. But for some insane reason, you are expected to complete the game in one life! I don't know who has so much time in their lives as to play this game long enough to become that good. The game advertises that it has no continues, but I thought that it would at least give the player more than one life. Well, it doesn't; it's a little ridiculous honestly. I managed to get to stage 3. If you buy this game, I hope you have LOTS of patience.

Small and retro shoot'em up whose unique mechanic won't work for everyone. There are six stages in the game. Since there is no difficulty option, you will either find the game's hour or two of playtime frustrating or enjoyable. Stages conform to the tried-and-true model. You fight against simple planes, bombers, boats, and other things for the first several minutes. While some aspects of a bullet-hell genre are present in their attacks, they never go too far. And then the stage is concluded with a boss battle. The movement and attack button are the only things you need to be concerned with, therefore the mechanics are pretty straightforward. There are also typical bombs that work best when you're being shot at from all sides. I'm not sure why, but my gamepad worked only the first time I started the game. When I exited and came back, the gamepad stopped responding. Getting hit also causes an explosion. You lose a life, but you also eliminate a few enemies. This should clear out the entire screen because the game is hard enough. Since there are no continues, it’s game over when you lose all five lives. And this happens frustratingly fast because you respawn completely vulnerable. …

This is quite a neat little Strikers 1945-type of shmup. Well presented and a great challenge due to the '1CC is mandatory' design of it. Unfortunately it appears the settings system is broken. For my first game I played on controller. I quit out to quickly do something else - then launched the game again and now can't get the controller to work at all (with or without SteamInput). Should this be fixed in the future I'll definitely give this another go. For now - refunded.

To be honest I find this game quite fun to play. It has the vibe of 80s arcade shooters. The only thing that bugs me a little bit is the "hit box" of the items, like stars, power ups, bombs... etc. They have to be touched at very center to collect, and it feels a bit weird.

I'm not sure if it's an issue on my end but I cannot for whatever reason get my controller to work for this. Even looking past that issue, this game is fairly generic and unmemorable. It's certainly no where near as good or interesting as Q-YO Blaster, another shmup by the same developer. Get that game instead.
