About Reflection of Mine

Reflection of Mine is a dark puzzle video game about the dissociative identity disorder. The entire game takes place in the broken mind of Lilly Witchgan and the goal is to discover who is real – Lilly herself or one of her many personalities. The plot will tell us about her many minds and how are they fighting each other.

During the game, the player controls two characters at the same time and one of them repeats the actions after another. If the player turns left – both of the girls will go left, if the player turns right – both of them go right, if one dies – the other is buried with her. The difficulty is in finding the exit of the map, which is separated into two different parts. Maybe one of the girls will see only flowers in front of her, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a trap before her second personality. You will find a variety of traps that bring diversity into the game mechanics.
Here, madness is represented as it really is – Lilly is a foreigner in her own body and her memory is broken into pieces by the other personalities. She can’t remember many hours of her life, even days, months and years. Her live is a broken puzzle and we are here to help this girl.

✦ AI summary

Players are divided on this game. Some appreciate its ambitious puzzle mechanics that blend dual-character control with psychological themes, along with its atmospheric presentation and artistic design. However, significant criticisms include inaccurate and potentially harmful portrayals of Dissociative Identity Disorder that reinforce stereotypes like the "evil alter" trope, frustrating puzzle design lacking quality-of-life features like undo functions, and poorly executed narrative that players feel mishandles its subject matter.

This review will include Spoiler free section and Spoiler one, because I want to get more into the story. The synopsis of the story caught my interest and I was excited to get into it. However the further I got into the story, the more I realised that the Game is very stigmatizing for DID and demonise it. I am not, by any mean a specialist in the matter, however even with my limited knowledge, I am able to say, that this depiction is harmful. I will get more into it in spoiler section. Lets start with the spoiler free one. The idea of the game is interesting from the design standpoint. In which you are controlling 2 characters in the same time. If you move left, the other character or in this case an alter also moves left. Your task is, to solve the puzzles and lead the characters to the end of the level. The game on its page mention, that it’s hard and achievement for finishing tutorial is called “Ready to suffer” and this depiction really fits well. ROM is difficult game, that is quite of a challenge. However, two base difficulties offer help, or support that will help you, if you are stuck. It’s not a type of a game made for me. There is a reason why, I don’t play games l…

Alright so, i actually have a clinical diagnosis of dissocative identity disorder, and the depiction in this game, is very inaccurate and frankly kind of offensive. and plays into somewhat harmful tropes, like ok- it plays into the 'evil alter' trope, where apparently, like apparently one of them burned down a church, which is just kind of WHAT?. also the entire premise of the game which is "finding the real one" .. doesn't make any sense? theres no "real person" in DID. were all just as real as eachother, infact; i wasn’t always the host of our own system, it used to be someone else, then at some point it changed to another, And the game immediately starts with a meeting with a psychologist saying we apparently burned down a church and a hotel, which is just what the F- directly playing into stereotypes that ppl with did are violent and dangerous, as usual, my system has roles like protector, who tries to keep us all safe, and caretaker who takes care of us and our littles, there’s seems to have “murderer” and “arsonist” quite a stark contrast! After this they go on to explain you have “multiple personality syndrome” which, im sorry, did it say the developer had a degree in ps…

Reflection of Mine is an ambitious and emotionally charged puzzle experience that fuses mechanics and theme into a single, often unsettling journey. Developed and published by Redblack Spade, the game takes place entirely within the fractured psyche of its protagonist, Lilly Witchgan, and builds its identity around the idea that inner conflict is not just a narrative concept but a mechanical reality. From the opening moments, the game establishes a somber, introspective tone, signaling that this will be less about conventional problem-solving and more about navigating a symbolic mental landscape. The defining feature of Reflection of Mine is its dual-character control system. Players simultaneously guide two versions of Lilly, each representing a different personality, through mirrored but subtly divergent environments. Every input affects both characters at once, meaning each movement must be carefully considered in relation to two separate spaces. A path that is safe for one may be lethal for the other, and success depends on learning to anticipate hazards, memorize layouts, and coordinate actions with precision. This mechanic is not just a clever puzzle hook; it reinforces the …
