Oh look... I've created art! Uhm... no! You've clicked some assets together! That's it!

Update #1 03/17/2020: The fall damage problem has been fixed. The game is still really buggy and I still don't feel I can recommend it in it's current state but it is definitely closer to a "recommend" than I thought it would be at this point. At the very least, it's kind of playable at this point and you can make some progress. Fundamentally broken in just about every way imagineable. I thought the game couldn't possibly be as bad as the other reviewers made it out to be. I was wrong. It was even worse.

Rest House is a 3D first person adventure/puzzle game where you are stuck in a surreal house full of what look like Unreal Marketplace asset flips and must negotiate a series of nonsensical puzzles and so on (like moving a thing onto a floor button to keep the door open and collecting a bunch of different things scattered around the map level). The technical quality here is really poor, not even the venerable Unreal engine can save it. There's no 4K support despite the game being released in 2020, some 6 years after 4K became the cutting edge resolution for video games. That alone is enough to disqualify the game. I don't think this is worth $5 given the poor quality of implementation, lack of polish, low quality assets and incoherent story. At least it's not a 2D retro pixel platformer?

The first time I played this, I got annoyed and ended up leaving it idling until I got the cards. I had already forgotten what a mess this was and decided to try again. At least I got a bit further this time, but it's just not worth the effort. Being surreal doesn't mean being confusing and just slapping random stuff together. Cosmo D does this sort of thing so much better. Definitely not worth the price. And if you decide to get this anyway (hopefully at -95%), remember that when the game asks you to pick up a certain item by pressing 0 and it doesn't work, press O.

The experience is great, so mysterious and you get to unravel it bit by bit. The design is gorgeous and the graphics are great. Assets honestly fit together and are well combined. I like how the idea of this game is to be a adventure type game but what I also like is the mix of having it as a platform game which makes it more exciting. It feels so good to finally solve a level after all that dedication!
