About Return Home
Return Home is a abstract horizontal scrolling shooter with 2D gameplay. The game is randomised and altered dynamically according to how well you play.
Shooting/destroying enemies and collecting blue chips increases your anger, reflected in the transformation of the player ship. The higher your anger the more you will score and the more difficult the game will become. Death will not normally end the game, instead your anger level is reduced and you must wait a few seconds to respawn. As you improve single bullets will turn into waves of lasers and levels will morph and change.

Fun little abstract shmup with short procedurally generated levels, they take a set amount of time with unlimited lives but you will lose your multiplier when you die. Use the fire button to shoot forward and the split button to split and widen your shot.4 found this helpful
Return Home is the perfect 5 minute game, stages are procedurally generated but familiar enough that you can work on strategies to up your score. Difficulty scales to your ability throughout the run. Solid aesthetic, fantastic soundtrack, tons of leaderboards to compete for. Then change it all up with Core mode for a new challenge. Best part is the original version of this game, Leave Home, is included in here as well. Since XBLA no longer exists, it's great to have that game in my life again. Hello 2009! You can totally afford this game.2 found this helpful
The reactive difficulty keeps the game challenging as you improve. Great game, and very replayable.2 found this helpful
Blinding little score attack game with a great soundtrack and a devious auto difficulty mechanic. Check it out.2 found this helpful
The ideas in this game save it from rejection. You have unlimited lives, but limited time. 2-3 min to score all the points you can, but every death locks you out of gameplay for a few precious seconds you could be scoring points. It's genius! However... Return Home changes difficulty based on how quickly you accumulate bonus gems. You do well, it pushes back harder. This is a mixed bag: play stays fresh and wild, but the exponential increase quickly outruns your ability to keep up. Imagine playing Tetris with a multiplier, so that two fills in a row counts extra to the level counter. It's fun, but you'll hit max speed before you know it. I cautiously recommend Return Home. It is cheap, quite beautiful and very interesting but, like in love, all that's good for a fling, not a long term commitment.
nice 2d shooter that feels different every time you play it
