About Robot King Part I: Rebooted and Ready
The first in a 3 part series, Robot King follows the journey of a robot on a quest to find his place in a kingdom where everyone seems bent on his destruction. Navigate through 4 unique areas, collecting gold as you go. Customize your robot with 40 possible equipments. But with only 10 equipment slots, various builds will have to be utilized to make it through the harsh terrain and boss levels. Combined with 2 different gameplay modes, Robot King offers a wide variety of options for different player styles.
The uniqueness, and challenge, of Robot King lies in 2 key game design aspects: you cannot farm gold, and you can only save, purchase and repair at the shop. The tedium of farming gold is missing from Robot King. There is a finite amount of gold to be had in the game, encouraging full exploration of the map. Your robot starts in the center of the map and can venture out in any direction. But you can only purchase equipment, save, and repair your robot at the center. The further away from the center you travel, the riskier and more dangerous it becomes. This makes planning equipment combinations all the more important.
There is nothing stock about Robot King. Everything from the artwork and music to the level design and enemy A.I. is custom built from scratch. It has the look and sound of an old school game but with a modern feel, smooth gameplay, and plenty of variety.
Keyboard and Mouse required to play. It will not work with a trackpad.

Robot King Part I: Rebooted and Ready is a small top down action game where I control a robot trying to make his way through a hostile kingdom. The basic idea is pretty simple. I explore four different areas, collect gold, fight enemies and bosses, then use what I find to improve my robot before going further. It has that old school arcade feel where I am given a small set of systems and expected to figure out how to use them properly. The fact that it is completely free also makes the whole thing easier to get into. The equipment system is probably the part I find most interesting. There are 40 different pieces of equipment, but I only have 10 slots, so I cannot simply take everything with me. I have to decide what is actually useful for the area I am entering and what I can afford to leave behind. Some equipment changes my combat abilities while other things are more useful for dealing with particular enemies or terrain. I like this because it gives me a reason to think about my setup before moving too far away from the shop. The way gold works is also quite clever. С первых минут погружаешься в мир, где высокие технологии соседствуют с, казалось бы, забытыми механизмами, создавая уникальную атмосферу. Управление роботом интуитивно понятно, но в то же время открывает простор для тактических маневров, что особенно радует в напряженных сражениях. Графика, хоть и не претендует на фотореализм, обладает своим шармом, а дизайн уровней продуман до мелочей, предлагая как открытые арены, так и запутанные лабиринты. Сюжет, пусть и не блещет оригинальностью, достаточно увлекателен, чтобы держать в напряжении и мотивировать двигаться дальше. Саундтрек отлично дополняет происходящее, усиливая эмоциональное восприятие. Есть, конечно, и мелкие недочеты, вроде непродолжительных зависаний в особо динамичных моментах, но они не портят общего впечатления от игры, которая, несомненно, заслуживает внимания.

There are a ton of strong enemies at the spawn point ready to cheap-shot you and I really don't care enough to map out a strategy
