About Roost

After moving to the big city, You receive a great deal on the perfect apartment. The deal would be suspicious had it not come with a single caveat, you can't move the old photo which hangs on the wall in your bedroom. The owner of the building, Vanessa Smith says the room once belonged to her late grandmother who lived in the apartment. In remembrance she'd like you to keep the painting up. However you get the feeling that's she's leaving something else out as you begin to experience weird phenomenon and your dreams become strange and repetitive. Can you figure out what is actually happening? Or will your fate be sealed?

Roost is a Low Poly First Person Exploration Game where you attempt to unravel the mystery of your new apartment. Roost mixes design philosophies of roguelites, adventure games, horror and those weird games you find on the internet to create a unique gameplay experience.

Someone else said it first, but best: this is an endless loop of repetitive nonsense. I love hunting for achievements, but this isn't worth it for me. I feel cheated, and it was free.

I've spent most of my time with this game feeling simultaneously very confused and intrigued enough to keep coming back for more. If an experience like that isn't offputting to you, I recommend you spend some time with Roost. It's bizarre and creepy and rewarding, as long as you're willing to be persistent.

"Roost" is a rather garbage attempt to make a first person horror "art" experience, don't worry, it's not an asset flip, no asset creator would ever publish assets this bad. You move into a new apartment and it's spooky... yes, that's the whole plot, and the game seems to be the result of having Paranormal Activity stuck in the VCR on a loop. What do you do in the game? Wander around a crap environment in first person perspective, look at stuff... uninstalling the game was the best part. The "game" here is of a pretty low technical standard. The implementation is basic minimum effort stuff, more like a weekend project rather than a serious, professionally made product... and it's bad even compared to most amateur made games. An experimental piece... and the experiment is "Can I spend $100 on Steam Direct and then call myself a game dev?" While that $100 spend on Steam Direct probably made the developers feel good about themselves, we have to ask why this kind of thing is good for gamers. It isn't. The graphics here are particularly awful, low poly, low resolution garbage that makes PS1 games look like GTA:V, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking ga…
