A good strategy game, with good mechanics and absolutely adorable characters. Having to play it again and again, returning to 'day one' with more resources after losing the final battle felt a little weird to me at first, but that’s parte of the appeal of this game (apparently this is called 'lose-to-win' out there), integrating everyday actions (like exploring dungeons or hiring heroes) to a long-term strategy that must be developed in more than one or two playthroughs. I’d love to see a continuation of this as a slightly more traditional RPG, where you progress gradually, dungeon after dungeon, without the ‘monthly cap’, with a good story, since, the plot is always the same with each playthrough (that's not quite a flaw, but... think of the narrative possibilities offered by a longer RPG). Note: I saw that some players complained about the game crashing constantly, but so far I haven't had any problems.

It's a nice game, but it gets annoying very quickly since you're forced to lose multiple times and restart, repeating every dungeon over and over again to progress

A real snoozeworthy game. It's a newgame+ simulator. That's really all there is to it. Why do all these anime-inspired/weeby SRPGs have such awful gameplay (e.g. Tenchi Muyo! Game Hen, Hyperdevotion Noire, and this one)? The core strategic elements of the game are so basic and barebones that they make FFT look like a masterpiece by comparison. Characters have anywhere from 3-5 mobility, they have 1 or 2 abilities, and... that's it, really. You can't take back your movement if you misclick, and if your party wipes out, you'll need to restart from the beginning of the game - but with some of the perks you've unlocked along the way. The main gameplay loop of this game revolves around failing -> starting over -> grinding through mindless battles and becoming slightly stronger -> failing -> staring over -> grinding through more mindless battles and becoming slightly stronger... there is no strategy involved in this game. The only challenge in Shachibato stems from trying to stay awake while playing it. Even the story is basic and uninspired, with generic, flat characters and the bare minimum of what you could call a "plot." This is objectively one of the worst games I've played …

Do not recommend. 3/10. Writing is sub-par. Gameplay is very basic and bad. QoL features that have existed in this genre of games for literally decades are missing. After you move you can't cancel the movement. After you attack or perform an action you cannot choose a character facing. The rouguelite element feels miserable and depressing. You just feel like a failure. The gameplay is not engaging enough to be this repetitive. I bought it on sale for the neptunia collab. Can't even bring myself to play it for that long. I might try more but there are so many better games out there in this genre. This game would be much better served with a complex fighting system (it may get more complex later on, but I doubt it, a normal gameplay style (not rougelite) , and serious QoL improvements. It takes an entire day to go to the shop?! Absurd.

enemy AI is stupid. game is easily beatable. i lost twice, and on my 3rd run i finally beat the game. since there is no multiple ending and the AI is not challenging, i think i have no more reason to play even on new game+. the hardest dungeon is still too easy.
