About Shackled
Explore the world, uncover your purpose, and make decisions that shape the world around you.
You awake in a field with a voice in your head sending you out to save the world. Explore and interact with a large assortment of people and monsters to learn more about not only the world, but your role in it. Will you bring an end to the monster kingdom or attempt to bring peace between the realms?
This game features a unique death system where your character only levels up through dying. However, every time you die you are given a debt that must be paid at a shrine within a certain time frame or else you will awake back in the field with your level reset. If you're seeking a challenge then try and save or conquer the world as a level 1. Otherwise, utilize death to become even stronger so you can topple those who stand in your way.

I received a copy of this game to create content and I have enjoyed it so much I've been playing it offline as well. It is an Indie game so you can never expect them to run perfect but still enjoyable and the death leveling system is super creative and fun to play with. Shackled has a lot to offer and is meant to be played several times to find all of the secrets and follow each path of the story. The game is tough and encourages you to find new ways to speed up and improve your character before continuing on to the next level. There are plenty of spells to use, each help out and allow you to adapt a run to a certain play style. *I tested this game during its development which is why I received a free copy*
Shackled is the type of game that is entirely driven by the player's willingness dive deeper into the world and uncover its mysteries. If you want to try and speed run the game without learning much about the world around you, you can with much greater difficulty than if you were to involve yourself in all of the side quests, strategic resetting, and world exploration to beef up your character. Speaking of involving yourself, Shackled has tens of hours of content for a player who is looking to get the full experience per storyline (good, neutral, evil). The multitude of character interactions, environments, and quests questions your character's intended purpose in the world and how much choice you truly have. Further lore tidbits are scattered around the world and require effort to both find and decode to understand the full story. TL:DR - Allowing the player to play the game how they want to is this game's strong suit. DISCLOSURE: As someone who tested the game, I received the Steam version for free.
