Shephy, developed and published by Arc System Works, is a small-scale card game that disguises a surprisingly intricate puzzle system beneath an intentionally simple and whimsical premise. At a glance, it appears almost lighthearted to a fault, asking players to grow a flock of sheep to an absurdly large number, but once the mechanics unfold, it becomes clear that this is a tightly designed and often unforgiving experience built around careful planning and efficient use of limited resources. The core objective is deceptively straightforward. You begin with a single sheep and must eventually reach a flock of one thousand within a fixed number of rounds. To do this, you manage a small field of sheep cards, each representing different values, while using event cards that can manipulate those values in a variety of ways. Some cards allow you to duplicate sheep or combine them into larger numbers, while others introduce complications that can reduce your flock or force difficult sacrifices. The simplicity of the rules makes the game easy to understand, but the way these elements interact creates a layered system that requires foresight and adaptability. Every turn presents a set of de…
If you forget to use your doe-eyed border collie to deter the lingering, Northwestern wolf eyeing up your lonesome new born lamb with the survival instincts of a potato wedge, well you may have just been made responsible for single handedly leading the entirety of earth's sheep population to extinction. Great game.
Por algún motivo los creadores de guilty gear y blazblue hicieron un juego de cartas sobre ovejas y es una maravilla
It's "One step Forward, Two steps Back" The Game. The art is charming, but the game proper is anything but. Half your deck is just straight penalty cards (it sure feels that way if it isn't). The game is all too happy to ask to get rid of half of your active cards in play (or more). How do you deal with these cards? Only roughly a sixth of your deck can help manage the penalty cards with discards or remove from deck (the other third is for growing your herd). It's automatically game over if your helper cards are drawn too early in a round, or your last five cards to play are all penalty cards. Both of those cases are statistically possible, as like I said, half your deck is just penalty cards. You're not managing risk in this game, you're praying for perfect RNG for all your penalty and helper cards to be perfectly spaced in all four rounds the game gives you to reach 1000 sheep. Want an actual feel good card game about getting bigger numbers? Get Balatro instead. That game was nominated for Game of the Year for a reason. Think the game is tempting? It's a fraction of the price for a fraction of the satisfaction.
the cute art outweighs losing 6 times in a row and who would've known there was a story mode with unique modifiers!?!?!
