About Silverworld
Silverworld is a 560,000-word interactive time-travel fantasy novel by Kyle Marquis, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
You need allies to survive, but who can you trust? The locals may have already betrayed you to appease their enemies. The empress back home has ordered you to plunder this new world. Your friend survived the crash only for the jungle to infect him, transforming him into something inhuman. And the expedition's chief adviser has imprisoned the Icons—architects of the universe, masters of time—and fled to build his own civilization.
Can you rebuild Doctor Sabbatine's time machine and return home? You must protect your timeline, but at what cost? And after leading the people of Silverworld, will you even want to?
- Play as male, female, or nonbinary; straight, gay, bi, or ace.
- Carve out your own Stone Age nation.
- Face giant lizards, renegade airships, feathered apes, and the volcano fortress of the snake people!
- Uncover the secret history of your benefactor Doctor Sabbatine and her robot helpers.
- Confront challenges with threats or charm, overt violence or subtle tricks.
- Use modern technology to survive, or abandon it and go native!
- Protect the past from exploitation, or be the first to cash in.
- Fight the False Icon, surrender to its will, or try to trick it into granting you your heart's desire.
- Befriend, betray, and romance robots, invincible warriors, and bee women from the Crystal Plains.
- Fight to free the Icons—the creators of the universe—or enslave them for your own ends.
You can save the future…if you can survive the past.

Silverworld stands out for its genuinely original worldbuilding that blends prehistoric fantasy with technology, magic, and multiple genres in ways that feel cohesive rather than chaotic, creating a refreshingly unique setting compared to tired fantasy tropes. Players consistently praise the strong writing, meaningful choice mechanics that significantly impact both endings and paths, and well-developed characters that don't overshadow the compelling world itself. The game offers substantial replay value with multiple approaches to objectives, though its niche premise and choice-heavy design me
Silverworld is such a unique story with fantastic worldbuilding; a mix of prehistoric fantasy with both tech and magic. There is a lot going on: insect people, robots, time travel, steampunk alternate Byzantine, etc. yet it all makes sense while playing because everything fits naturally into the world rather than feeling like random gimmicks thrown in for the sake of it. The whole thing is bizarre, but in a good way. The replay value is amazing. There are many ways to achieve (or fail) our goals, and choices have impact both on the endings as well as on the paths leading there. The characters are solid, and the writing strikes a nice balance in making them always present and well-defined while keeping the unique world and its challenges at the center of the story. It's definitely a niche setting, and I wasn't sure about it at first, but it's so inventive and well-crafted that I'd honestly recommend it to anyone no matter your preferred genre.3 found this helpful
This is a hidden gem as far as the Choice of/Hosted Games series goes. Truly one of the best ones out there as far as worldbuilding, especially fantasy worldbuilding. I can't begin to say how bored I am of fantasy that bases itself on tired tropes like lazy fake-medieval Tolkien-ish-"inspired" setups. None of that can be found here in Silverworld: the setting, characters (both types and individual ones), and mood are all original and refreshing, as well as actually interesting. It feels like actually stepping into this new world the author proposes, apropos of the writing quality. It also pulls off action scenes much more engagingly than a lot of attempts in IF. Gameplay wise, there is some interesting approaches to the branching design, and stat management doesn't feel like a burden. I wish you could spend more genuine quality time with the genuinely interesting and different characters you get, but I always wish for that when I'm given cool characters in a story. One thing I'll say is that I am usually deeply hesitant of stories that involve any type of "native peoples" theme, or anything that goes close into colonizing territory unless it actually has something interesting, t…3 found this helpful
This is my absolute favourite choose your own adventure game of all time The story is great and the characters are likeable, but most importantly, the game actually responds to your choices unlike anything I've ever seen1 found this helpful
Such a fun story! If you enjoy light base building and warrior philosopher adventuring, this is a game for you.
Good
Time travel, prehistoric society, and steampunk. Think H.G.Wells, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and a touch of Stephen Hunt. The first play-through took me 10 hours. And by the end I was play with the results.
