This is one of the best games I've ever played on Steam and I'm not exaggerating even a little bit. Amongst a sea of hyper-realistic Triple-A games all blending together and low-effort indie games no longer taking new risks outside of incremental mechanics or proximity chat, Sinker sound is something so new and so fresh that I never once stopped feeling surprised and mesmerized in the entirety of my time playing the game. At first I thought "wow, I've seen a lot of low-poly indie games as of late, but this is the first to really nail a Dreamcast-esque vibe in not only its modelling, but also its texturing, lighting, and level geometry," and I booted it up hoping for maybe an above-average rhythm game experience. What I got was a game that clearly has a ton of different inspirations, but manages to take all of the ideas it has and craft something that literally exists nowhere else. The basic gameplay loop is look around for new fish, cast bait, and hold left-click rhythmically to reel while simultaneously moving your mouse to prevent obstacles from interrupting said reeling. An incredibly unique rythm game. Its still rought around the edges, basically going around the map because theres not much besides fishing and sitting on benches. On the other hand the core gameplay, the actual fishing, is really damn solid and can be played with just your mouse and nothing else. That being said you should always do the tutorial first because it is very easy to confuse the mechanics, specially if you compare it to other more traditional rythm games. Something to note: its is a VERY challenging game. It has actual bossfights that had me on the edge of my seat. Overall this is a very promising game and I cant wait for the finished product. Specially recomended if you are looking for a high adrenaline rythm game.
