From the makers of the award winning, Overwhelmingly Positive-rated puzzle game 'Slayaway Camp' comes a totally bitchin' new sequel!

Skullface, Slayaway Camp’s violentest masked killer, has been trapped inside a very familiar-looking (but legally distinct!) streaming service. That means hundreds of potential new victims splattered across classic movie parodies, and — let’s face it — those unsuspecting campers aren’t going to decapitate themselves. Your hall pass for cartoonish retro horror puzzling awaits!

Step into Skullface’s blood-soaked boots or transform into a murderous lineup of horror monsters like Gourd Head, the Killer Fridge and Demon Doll. This funny tribute to ‘80s horror invites you to perfect your scare tactics. Maneuver through challenging sliding block logic puzzles, find hiding spots, collect concealed machetes and unleash gut-churning finishers to elevate your kills and help Skullface escape his digital prison.

Featuring brand new single-step puzzle movement (don't worry there are plenty of ICE puzzles for the original Slayaway Camp diehards as well!) we've built upon the brain busting core mechanics of Slayaway Camp with even MORE slaughteriffic new additions like pushable crates and rolling boulders you can use to block or squish your victims with; grass and trees you can interact with to frighten your victims from adjacent spaces; super awesome pressure switches that trigger trap floors and doors and mighty lawnmowers that can run over the campers for some truly grotesque 'manscaping'.

Not only that but there are 4 new classes of killers in addition to the traditional 'Slasher' class. Sorcerers can fire projectiles across the levels, destroying obstacles and turning campers into a bloody mist! Beasts let loose a frightening roar to freeze all the campers in place. Monster class killers can create zombie friends from dead campers to help in their slaughter and the special Ghost killers are able to 'phase' through obstacles to surprise slaughter unsuspecting victims!

What even is this? It doesn't even feel like slayaway camp anymoere. In the original you moved until you hit something that would stop movement in that direction so a lot of the puzzle was how to get your character in the right position. Now you just have free movement in any direction one square at a time and it honestly trivializes a lot of puzzles. It's not like there's nothing good, but it just doesn't feel interesting to me, certainly not as the previous. I'll be refunding this.

A number of positive and negative changes from the previous Slayaway Camp add up to a bit of a downgrade for me, but still with a clear recommendation. Visual are not an eyesore this time. However, animations become a bit of a pain since they cannot be skipped any more, thus watched hundreds of times each. Most of them aren't short either. Mini-games are now numerous, when it was just the one prior. I get that variety is a plus for those who like that kind of stuff but, for me, we lose the simplicity of mouse-only single button control, and the chance to improve through repetition. Let's also mention the high chances of disliking certain mini-games, combined with the inability to exclude those from the randomised cycles. I would have preferred the removal of mini-games entirely, since I come for puzzles. And I got my wish granted: all arcade can be won automatically; it's like skipping, only with a bit of time wasted to unlock every unlockable. Verdict: mini-games upgraded. Puzzles have lost the feature I liked the most: the slippery floors. They join the inferior ranks of Sokoban classics, with a hundred times the number of steps, the laborious pushing of crates, the undo/rewin…

The puzzles are easier than the first game (which I don't mind) and there's a built-in hint system if you really need it. More importantly, this one has proper cloud saving (unlike the first one), and is generally a bit more polished on PC. Runs great on every machine I've thrown it on. A perfect game for Steam Deck.

New mechanics along with switching to single-tile movement for the second game made it much more difficult compared to the original. There aren't any challenges for completing levels efficiently, but victims still run away until they hit an obstacle, so trapping them requires set-up of varying complexity. You will be pushing crates, rolling boulders, launching lawn-mowers, and scaring small animals to manipulate level layouts to your advantage. Often doing so while walking on breakable tiles which call for planning one's path carefully. Some levels contain an optional machete to be obtained for a little challenge and a corresponding achievement. In addition to the relatively "talentless", base character, there are three new types, each with a unique mechanic. One of them can throw a projectile to take out a victim or a wooden crate, another one can leave a stationary zombie ally in place of a victim, and the third type can pass through some obstacles. Unfortunately, because the game is a pretty strict puzzler, the choice of character type is dictated by a chosen level. Undoing last move is unlimited, and every level features a hint and a full video solution. There doesn't seem t…
