The game is kind of fun but the grinding gets tedious too quickly compared to the progression/reward. The story is revealed too slowly and there are too few upgrades. Also different meals doesn't provide different end results (the monsters eat them all the same with the same speed and same comments) so that was kind of disappointing. I like the idea of making food but unfortunately cannot recommend this game because there are better games. If you like grinding with meanings, mindustry rewards you with more exciting upgrades and enemies. If you like grinding without meanings, Shapez has better tools and interfaces for designing and building efficient pipelines.2 found this helpful
This game is an excellent translation of factory game verbs into a level-based puzzle game. I reached credits at time of writing, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. You can tell the devs know what they're doing and really poured their heart into it. I would say how much you enjoy it depends mainly on how much you're willing to meet the game on its own terms. Here are some examples of how this game differs from other factory game staples: [olist] [*]You're not building one big factory - you're building ~50 small factories. Some factories you build from scratch, others you expand upon partially complete factories that the devs provide. Pros: (1) I really enjoyed that most levels took between 2-3 hours, which helped each play session have a bite-sized beginning, middle, and end. (2) The devs do an excellent job of adding a "twist" to every level so no one levels feels like the last. I never felt that the game was too repetitive in terms of level design, which would have been a very easy game design trap to fall into in less skilled hands. Cons: (1) Setting up basic things every time like power generation every level did feel tedious after a w…1 found this helpful
More of a puzzle game than a true factory game. Limited inputs, limited build areas, and slow, tedious platforming, routing and tweaking. The bones of something much more fun are in here, but it's held back by design that gets in the way of actually having fun building a factory.1 found this helpful
This is a level-based puzzle game with a factory vibe and a fun chef to elder gods theme. The UI, pixel art, and sound design are superb. Unlike traditional factory games where you might be pulling all your resources to a central mega-factory to process and assemble, each level of Snacktorio is hand crafted to present unique challenges and twists. Often void corruption from the elder gods or indestructible alloy walls from the old, abandoned factories mean you can't build where you want, so you have to squeeze dough production and bread baking into a tiny cave you're pumping water into while still giving the dough enough time on a conveyor belt to rise before it gets to the oven. And like I said, it's all carefully designed and intentional. There's probably an intended optimal way to meet all the level goals, and it can feel satisfying in very different ways to either feel like you figured out the developer's path or you brute force janked your way to success. Part of the fun is also how getting the second or third course/order in a level can throw a wrench in your existing setup and require you to retrofit your production to make new things while keeping the existing dishes comi…
I played it for a couple of hours and I'm hooked! It's cute, it has a story, the missions are interesting, the story is interesting. It's very easy to get into and I would 100% recommend it! (I already did)
