✦ AI summary

SNIKS is a charming casual puzzle game where players manipulate colorful worms to reach matching fruits, praised for its adorable presentation, clever mechanics, and excellent pacing that balances accessibility with satisfying challenge across 108 levels. The main complaint centers on the lack of an undo feature, which becomes frustrating when fail-state mechanics are introduced later, and some players found the compact level design occasionally claustrophobic, though most consider these minor issues in an otherwise well-designed experience.

SNIKS is a decent, mostly very easy, casual puzzle game. It's good for what it is, but the presentation made me expect a classic like Snakebird, which this is not. It's still solid, though. The presentation is appealing, featuring fun & juicy sound, music, art, etc. The puzzle mechanics are neat and original - snakes can move through one another, but can only overlap by one tile, and their heads can't collide. There's no undo, which kind of makes sense as there are no fail states... until the game does introduce those in the form of purple clouds in chapter 5, at which point the lack of undo was occasionally annoying. There are ~108 levels, and they're mostly tiny and compact. That's enjoyable for the most part, but a few levels felt a bit claustrophic (particularly given the lack of undo), and a few of the final levels (around level 100+) are a bit too big. The progression system is okay. It's annoyingly linear for the first 8-ish levels per world, but then opens up for the rest of each chapter. Each chapter features a new mechanic. I didn't particularly like the ice levels, which involved some annoying sliding around in trial & error and made me wish for an undo. And the afor…

Adorable little puzzle game that deserves more love. SNIKS has 6 stages consisting of a total of 108 levels. There is some variety between the puzzles, every stage being based of one simple mechanic. The game does a good job acclimating the player to the new set of obstacles by gradually increasing the difficulty throughout the stage. It also allows the player to unlock the next set of levels just by completing a few.

This is honestly one of my favorite low-key puzzle games in a while. Extraordinarily well-paced puzzle-solving that hits a perfect sweetspot between approachable difficulty and devilish trickiness. Also, it's adorable.
