Disclaimer: I did not receive this product for free nor was I compensated but I know the developers. I will do my best to review this fairly. Sodahazard is the first in (presumably) a series of games talking about this overarching world the devs have created. While fairly short (I 100%ed it in 3 hours) it's clear a lot of care has been put into this game and is well worth the price. Taste Test is definitely accurate for this, because I was left wanting more when my time was up. The writing is crisp and fun and I already find myself awaiting the sequel. Pros: -The game's writing is unique. You aren't really sure what exactly is going on and even the MC knows more than you do. Most character I flipped my opinions on once or twice and even then I still have questions. -The game looks good. The art style is unique and looks better in the game than a simple screenshot lets on. - I really liked Dylan. He's a pathetic idiot that would get shoved into lockers by girl scouts if the chance arose. He was very good at leading me on to wanting more clues. Cons: -The engine. The devs already know this so it won't be an issue when they make the sequel (hence this game's length because they're …3 found this helpful
This was really fun!! The artstyle is super cute and cool, the whole look of the game is great, the writing is very funny and quite silly, and the background lore stuff is rather intriguing, and for those who know, I am a normal person, smirks! : )2 found this helpful
In short, this game was phenomenal; But to give a bit more in depth information on my experience: THIS GAME SAVED MY LIFE I am 30 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and adopted our son together. They are now both 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I found myself lost and miserable. I was self destructive. I got so mad one day from everything spiraling out of my control that I punched some concrete in a moment of overwhelming emotion. That caused me to break my 5th metacarpal in my right hand... my working hand... my games hand.. the hand that I held and carried my children to bed with.. The hand I desperately needed to make sure I could continue to provide. After learning of the severity of my self-inflicted damage, I was borderline suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man with no history of depression or anxiety. I have never had fits of rage, or been one to break down and cry, but I was in a low spot that just really buried me from being able to see the light on the other side. Having nothing better to do, I searched for a game I could play, ONE HANDED while I recovered. I somehow stumbled upon …1 found this helpful
This is a very fun short narrative game with a spooky vibe to it. The setting clearly has quite a bit going on and has left me with a LOT of questions after uncovering the secret and not enough answers! I have been having fun trying to piece together what parts of the world we can see so far and hope that there is more coming. As a person who enjoys world building/theorizing this is a plus to me, but it does leave me wanting more. The game is based in RPG maker which you can feel sometimes with a few moments as the retro 3D style is really not meant for that platform. It is incredible how they got it to work knowing what I do of RPG maker but there are limitations. Most of the time it doesn't feel like an RPG maker game outside of the menus. The music is a real highlight of the game which was unexpected. It does a great job of setting the tone for what is going on and rounds out the sound design. The secret boss theme was a real banger! The combat is far more puzzle based than turned based. It escapes some of the feel of RPG maker in that regard, but if you are looking for challenging turn based combat this is not the game for it. It is a spooky (not really horror for the mos…1 found this helpful
This game brought me back to an age of gaming that I forgot how much I missed. It has a very nostalgic, retro simplicity that reminds me of when video games were about pure fun and engagement. Even though it runs on the shorter side, there is not a single minute that I did not enjoy during my playthrough. The storyline is captivating, funny, unique, and keeps you wanting more and more. It has moments that will make you laugh out loud which helps to balance out the more dark and ominous story elements. The art style is vibrant/quirky and the environment is surprisingly very interactive. I can tell that the developers put a great deal of love and passion into this piece of art. Overall, I would recommend this game to anyone who is looking for quick yet story-rich game to sink their teeth into. For $10 it is certainly worth the price, and I am looking forward to seeing what these developers come up with next!
idk why this is 10 bucks. this is just like a demo with 1 fight and a bunch of visual novel before.
