About Something Ate My Alien
Something Ate My Alien is a 2D, digging and puzzle platformer game where you take the role of the AI Antalasia, and control your little Alien blobs to explore the planets you visit! Your task is to dig through the ground of the different worlds and find all the items required by the pirate that is hijacking you. During the adventure on each planet you have to battle environmental dangers, fight off wildlife, solve secret puzzle chambers, and all this while surviving on a depleting oxygen supply and a threat far scarier than the local wildlife.
Guide the Aliens to find all the resources the pirate demands, and any additional items you find you can use to build upgrades. Some planets are rich in gems, others in specific minerals, fossils, artefacts or gases. Collect as much as you can!
Each planet has an array of puzzle chambers that once solved reveals hidden treasures. Pull and push the blocks into the correct positions to get the tokens containing parts of the code you need to unlock new places and move your adventure forward.
Your Aliens need to survive in the perilous environments while digging and exploring. Find oxygen recharge stations and beware of pools of corrosive, super heated or poisonous substances, falling rocks, slippery ice, toxic gases and open flames.
There are 6 unique weapons all with different mechanics to defend yourself against the abundant flora and fauna. Look out for charging animals, flying creatures, armoured beasts and be careful walking underneath hanging fungi.
Use the items the pirate doesn't want to build new upgrades for the Aliens. What should you pick? Faster mining? Better guns? Bigger oxygen tanks? Longer lasting jet packs? Or perhaps something else to aid your Aliens while exploring the caves?

Very fun game. I have not gotten past my first planet and was not sure at first how much I was going to enjoy it but now that I have played for awhile I am hooked. This game does not have the negative of constantly having to consult a wiki or forum to figure out how to play. It is pretty straightforward.3 found this helpful
Got recommended this in a random thread somewhere, and it's ended up being one of my favourite games of the year (actual release date irrelevant). There are a few different difficulty modes, including one called explorer which I am playing on, where you can happily whoosh about the map to your hearts content just finding stuff, or if you want things a bit spicier you can add a LOT more challenge. You lose your stuff on death but it stays where you died and you can go back and get it easily enough. The music is ambient chill personified, the puzzles aren't too hard but there are guides right here if you can't figure them out. I'm planning to go for all achievements and I hardly ever bother doing that, the game is just very fun and it's easy to get in the zone and lose a lot of time to it. If you're a fan of Steamworld Dig, then this game is a no-brainer. It has more combat and way more puzzles and both are a good thing. While the art and polish are a little less refined than Steamworld Dig's, Image & Form games has like 20 people, while Rokabium games are 2 people (as far as I know). It's a great feat to create such a charming and satisfying game with such a small crew. And considering the lack of "gathering" games on steam (read: gathering/mining for the sake of gathering/mining, not crafting), It's a must buy for fans of the niche genre. For anyone not accustomed to Steamworld Dig or I Dig it type games, you'll find a lovely puzzle game with a great sense of progression and even fulfills somewhat of a power fantasy by the time all upgrades are built (the final weapon is insanely awesome). That said, if you haven't played Steamworld Dig, you should. It's $10 and iconic in its own right. After Steamworld Dig though. you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal for these 'gathering' thrills. (SD2 is more of the same and pricier than SAMA).1 found this helpful
shoot or get eaten
It's a nice little shooter puzzle game. It combines all my favorite elements of a game without being too much. It's not a long game, but it doesn't try to stretch it to make it longer like some games do that makes it not as fun. I like to sit and relax after work with the game. The puzzles are the right amount of difficult with some harder and some easier.
