Good, well written game.

"Soul Catcher" is a garbage tier 2D retro pixelcrap horror adventure game. The developer has the weirdest flex here, they claim it took them 14 years to make something that looks like it was rejected from the Atari 2600 for being too ugly. This is absolutely not something to boast about... if I had worked for 14 years on anything and it came out looking this bad, I'd sell my house and go live in a cave and never show my face to the world again. I certainly wouldn't burn $100 dumping it on Steam Direct. We all make mistakes, but not everyone publishes them on a platform with 120 million people. What do you do in the game? 2D pixelcrap adventuring with a bit of cringey fan-fiction e-book writing. You navigate a mansion, complete puzzles, and avoid lurking horrors. The gameplay, however, is sadly repetitive and the visuals are severely limited by the game's low resolution. Soul Catcher is a really charming old school horror game that immediately gave me the feeling of playing something from the era of classic survival horror. I follow a group of characters trapped on a remote mountain while trying to save someone they care about from a strange cult. I liked how the game mixes dark horror with occasional moments of weird humor, which keeps the experience from becoming completely bleak. The gameplay focuses on exploring a mansion, solving puzzles and avoiding the horrors that are hiding inside. I enjoyed the slower pace because it gives me time to examine rooms and search for useful items instead of constantly fighting. The classic survival horror influence is obvious, but the game still has enough personality to make the experience feel like its own thing. The different playable characters are another feature I enjoyed. Each character brings another perspective to the story, and having different possible routes gives the adventure more replay value. I liked knowing that my choices and discoveries could lead toward different outcomes.
