Sound Shift is a really simple game, but I like the idea behind it more than I expected. It mixes a music visualiser with a small arcade shooter, so instead of just listening to music while watching effects on the screen, I am also shooting targets and earning credits. What makes it more interesting is that it uses whatever sound is coming from my computer, so I can use my own music or audio instead of being stuck with a fixed soundtrack. The visual side is easily the part that stands out most to me. The screen reacts to the music while I am playing, with different videos and effects changing the way everything looks. I like being able to put on something I already enjoy listening to and then have the game turn it into a moving visual experience. It gives the game a very different purpose from a normal arcade shooter because I am not really playing for a story or a big progression system.
