Quite polished retro-styled shoot 'em up.
Disclaimer: Developer gave me a free key for review purposes. A simple shoot 'em up, in Space Climber you go about a small level and shoot the constantly spawning monsters in hopes of diamonds. Reaching 20 diamonds finishes the level. While shooting and avoiding getting caught or shot by the mobs, you also have to worry about finding ammo and oxygen. If you run out of ammo, well, you can't shoot the mobs. If you run out of oxygen, you die horribly and silently, because there's no sound in space. There is sounds and music in Space Climber though, and they do their job fine with pew-pew effects and several adequate arcade tracks.
Increasing complexity
Each of the 30 levels introduces a new enemy or level feature or sometimes two. There's slow and fast mobs, various shooters, shielded mobs, and some can shoot or move through walls or have other special mechanics. Shooters include the basic damage dealers but also ones that lower e.g. your oxygen or ammo levels. It gets rather complicated in the end. The first levels with just a couple enemy types are easy-peasy, and you hopefully learn the …
Takes the classic addictive old school gameplay we once know and love !
ᵛᶦˢᶦᵗ ᴹˢʳ ᶜᵘʳᵃᵗᵒʳ ᵖᵃᵍᵉ It may not be the most engrossing single-player experience, but if you enjoy local co-op multiplayer, This game may be the best bet for ya !
My Table Review :

[th]About[/th] [th]Rate[/th]

Art/graphic Another retro games style we all know which doesnt really look good compare to current games generation, But atleast it still doing its best for traditional pixel art and simple sprite for its own style.

Gameplay Its an arcade style gameplay where you need to gather a thing from killing an alien/vermint its somekind of crytal- umm diamond or something ? i dont know what is it behind the story but well, the game will offer you 30 diffrend stage and you need to kill the vermint to get a diamon which our goals to collect arround 20 with 50:50 chance each vermint you shoot, I think its pretty much fair amout for random thing thou but im okay with it. the difficulty thou …

The year was 1983. I was 3-years-old. My mother introduced me to gaming via her much loved Atari and a lifelong gamer was born. From Frogger, Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Asteroids, Breakout, and Centipede to everything else in between my mother purchased almost every game she could get her hands on. We spent hours playing them together and I'm certain she spent plenty more playing them after I was fast asleep. A long-time has passed since then. Yet one thing has stayed true. Our love and need for entertainment. Technology has advanced at a level beyond our imaginations. Games like Space Climber and feruloxstudios' debut game XEYYEX are classic examples of nostalgia introduced to a modern audience. Whether they have the tools and features necessary to entertain a modern audience is the question that needs to be answered.
Is there sufficient challenge?
What I remember most fondly about the older generation games was the enormous challenge the top games offered. It wasn't just that I was a young gamer because I know game industry veterans have written copious amounts of dialogue on how difficult games used to be. The reality …

A fun arcade romp somewhat stymied by a weird control-scheme and some design decisions related to the mechanics, but not enough to ruin the game. Once you get the hang of the physics and controls, and wrap your head around the mechanics, Space Climber is a fun and challenging but fair arcade game with awesome music and that arcade hook that keeps you coming back. I'd love to see some genuine achievements (the ones the game has now are sort of... nonsensical) and it'd certainly be better with some work done on the physics and resource mechanics, but it's a solid game with fun co-op multiplayer. If you're on the fence, check the demo.

I like the game. I really do. But the controls and the lack of modern standards make me give it a no. If you have a controller, you can only use the data pad. On KB arrows to move, "l" to fire. No remapping to anything that makes sense. You can hold down on ladders to go down but have to repeat the up button on each level to go up. Getting off on a specific floor going down is very tricky. Getting onto a ladder from above is also very tricky. You might think you are in the right spot. But be off by a pixel and you will be standing there getting shot instead of dropping. You can not adjust sound or volume levels so far as I can tell. The gameplay (outside of frustrating controls) is pretty cool. Sort of a cross between "Donkey Kong" and Intellivisions "Night Stalker." Climb around a ladder maze. Shoot bad guys. Collect Ammo and O2 to avoid death. Basic stuff but cool. To me, this seems like something that needs a week more in polishing before leaving "early access."
