Right. So, the dev for SpHero just announced that this game will be delisted, and the reason for doing so makes complete sense. Apparently, licensing for the game where he lives was changed recently to be done only via e-filing and has a $2500 cost attached to it now. Which obviously is a non-starter when you have sold around 30 copies of the game. I definitely feel for the dev. It seems like another instance of government screwing somebody over for no real reason whatsoever. Anyway, since there was a copy sitting in Curator Connect, I thought I'd give the game a look as a final hurrah before it gets delisted. This is the game I experienced: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3455678258 Was there a snafu with the game's executables? No idea. I did verify the game files, and my computer is fully updated, so I doubt it's anything on my end. Who knows with these things though? That the game is unplayable while also having been announced that it's going to be delisted does raise some questions, but it could also be something completely random. Either way, I obviously can't give a thumbs up to a black screen simulator. And while it's uncertain whether or n…31 found this helpful
1 Week after a 90% Sale The Developer announce the Removal of this Game. Not a Nice Move. why? 1. inform your customers BEFORE they buy a product on sale that this will be Removed soon (and Developer possible knew about it because the Removal is because of Taxes in Canada!) 2. for all collectors/vultures they didnt got it and now pay 10 bucks instead of 1. well as the Developer stated here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2835720/view/547856738465875352 for preservation:
Hello everyone, We want to inform you that SpHero will be removed from the Steam store in the near future. This decision was not made lightly, and we truly appreciate all the support you’ve given us since launch. What This Means If you already own the game, you will still be able to download and play it even after removal. New purchases will no longer be possible once it is removed. Why Is This Happening? SpHero was developed with a clear vision: the ultimate physics-based ball-rolling adventure with RPG superpowers. We’re proud of what we created and grateful that it reached an audience. As independent developers, we followed the necessary steps—forming a corporation, setting up a websi…3 found this helpful
It is a great game. I wish it would still be available in the Steam store for others to enjoy it in the future.1 found this helpful
Pros:
-addictive gameplay that'll keep you coming back for more (try older levels and see how you improved!) -a wide variety of levels with all different sorts of gimmicks -up to two fun abilities and a passive that can massively change how you interact with levels -there's collectables, a rank based on speed and most levels have an alternative end point for more replayability -you can customize your ball
Cons:
-Bugs! The game is a little janky early on, but it wasn't anything that really distracted from the game, but on later levels two abilities (phase ball and bomb ball) no longer blew up crates or allowed me to phase through translucent walls. Level 53 of 60 didn't even load properly so I couldn't play it or any later levels so I technically didn't even beat the game! Achievements don't seem to work either and in-game trophies might work.
Verdict!!!
The game is lots of fun and bugs and all I think the game is worth it on sale for most people. I got the game when it was on it's lowest sale yet, so that goes double for me. If not on sale it's a tentative yes. If this game sounds right up your alley (i.e. you like to beat levels fast, find secret …1 found this helpful
Actually hard game but I beat it! Unlike other marble rollers that look like baby's first tutorial, this game is pretty good! You also can't use the same strategy on every level since the gimmicks change all the time. 10/10, would recommend!1 found this helpful
regardless of clunky controlling, a ton of bugs and bad level designs.. this game has very nice BGM, I took them with OBS studio and use it for daily use..
