An N64-style platformer collectathon where you play as a little sphere dude, and the goal is to collect all the gems in each of the seven levels. The controls are quite simple: you can jump, dash, and sometimes spin attack to kill enemies. However, the movement takes a bit of getting used to since you are always moving at top speed, which can make platforming pretty difficult. Most of the time, I would either overshoot or undershoot my jumps and fall back down to the bottom. Both the graphics and music are quite good. The game both looks and sounds like it was made in the N64 era. My only complaint about the game is that there’s no real goal for the levels. Once you collect everything you can just leave the level afterward, so there isn’t much replayability once everything has been collected, which is a bit disappointing. Overall, it’s a short but fun little platformer.2 found this helpful
It's a cute little platformer. It is mostly fun, but sometimes it gets frustrating when you miss a jump you thought you can make. I hope the dev continues to make games, because with some added polish this could be great. By polish I mean little things like tighter levels, more precise controller, matching texture resolutions, a progress bar for every level... Just examples.1 found this helpful
Spherebuddie 64 is a super chill N64-style collectathon platformer and honestly, it’s a really fun little time. I beat the whole game in under an hour, but I had a good time the entire way through. There are 7 levels you can play in any order, and you collect 70 gemstones to unlock the final portal and finish the game. The enemies are simple, you can smack them with melee attacks, and the gameplay stays nice and straightforward the whole time. No bloated mechanics or unnecessary stuff, just pure old-school platforming vibes. The movement felt a little weird for the first few minutes, but once it clicked, the platforming felt smooth and easy to control. And for the price? This game is kinda insane value. Grabbed it for like $2.30 with the launch discount, and the art, animations, music, level design, and overall polish are way better than I expected for that price. If you want a short, cozy, nostalgic platformer that feels like something straight out of the N64 era, Spherebuddie 64 is 100% worth picking up.1 found this helpful
I love the design of the little spherebuddie so much that I made it my profile icon, such a cute little character. Game was really fun, very short but for 2 dollars its worth it. To the dev, you did a great job with this game and I would love to see more from you, hopefully some merch of little spherebuddie.
This bite sized nostalgic 3D platformer has some variety to offer in its different biomes, while keeping tru to its N64 roots :) https://youtu.be/2-pw4cRug0A
