"Sportsfriends" is a collection of very poorly made, very low quality 2D retro pixel "minigames" that you're supposed to play local co-op with friends... but let me tell you, if you ask your friends to stop playing Counter-Strike or Helldivers 2 and play retro pixel garbage instead, you soon won't have any friends. These retro pixel toys are really shallow little action/reflexes games so dumbed down they make Pong look like 3D chess... the visual quality (dismal) is on par with the depth and gameplay quality (dismal). This features really godawful, lazy pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded [i]despite[/i] the bad graphics, not because of them. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. Some of the most fun I've ever had with couch co-op – I only recently learned that this has a PC port, and it even is free?! Let's go! Me and my brother played this a lot back on PS4 a decade ago. When I sent him the Steam link, we immediately made plans for him to come over and play again – and the games are just as silly, aggravating, hilarious, janky, intense and joyful as we remembered them.
