Despite some inconsistent character art this is such a good rpg

Terrible UI. Terrible controls. Everything takes at least one extra input than you'd expect if you've played this genre to death., Terrible core gameplay loop. Terrible balancing. No tutorial of any kind. Completely redundant intro sequence (grab items you already have. why?). And it's just not fun. Every individual battle drains so many of your resources (Thank god they don't respawn; at least not in the beginning) that you optimally are encouraged to just go fight 1 battle, run away to recover, and repeat. There's no levels so you hardly have any progression. There's gear, sure, and there are MINOR stat upgrades that can be unlocked with a pseudo xp system (5%-10% stat buffs max). So every battle just feels like an un-fun chore and kind of highlights how different of a game you and the enemies are playing. If they worked together, you'd be dead right at the start. The maps are really small too. Like, seriously. One hallway doesn't even fit in 1 map. In my first 10 minutes I saw MULTIPLE hallways span 3 different maps. Good game. this game took me by surprise. I didn't expect it to be this good, as i have a low opinion of RPG maker games. this goes to show that if its done right, RPG maker games can be great. I love every thing the game has to offer the gameplay, the story and the overall feel of the game. the only down side i can find is that some of the visuals and colors are a bit overwhelming for my taste and that the game is too short. but from what i understand is that this game is suppose to be a prologue. I can wait to see what the next installment has to offer.

A nice six and a half-ish hour play. While streaming this we did encounter a couple of bugs that happened after using abilities too much in one combat and another when trying to delete old saves. However, those are minor in the long run as the developer is actively working on fixing these. The first thing anyone is going to notice and speak out about is the use of AI in this game. Yes, it uses AI primarily for art when it comes to a number of characters and with making some of the javascript plugins. And while I will continue to not like the use of AI, I separated my dislike from this review and playthrough. The art style for a lot of the character portraits is inconsistent. While it is understandable that the developer was aiming to have them look different in the sense that they are aliens and of different species, the stylization of the art is the issue. Where two people of the same race look different as one has more of an anime/hand drawn look while the other is obviously AI with it's strange shiny layer.
