Steam Prison Review (Major Route Spoilers) I finished every main route, and while I genuinely enjoyed Steam Prison, I also feel like it constantly stopped just short of becoming something truly amazing. The game has incredible worldbuilding, memorable characters, and some genuinely emotional moments, but almost every route suffers from pacing issues, inconsistent logic, and rushed conclusions. The common route immediately hooked me with its unique setting and intriguing mysteries, but it also introduced one of my biggest issues with the game: inconsistent logic. Throughout the prologue, I often found myself questioning characters' decisions, the rules of the world, and the way conflicts were presented. There were several moments where events happened simply because the plot needed them to, rather than because they felt like natural consequences of the world's established rules. Despite that, the mysteries were compelling enough to keep me invested. I genuinely wanted to uncover the truth behind Cyrus's parents, the Saint, the Heights, and the Depths, hoping the later routes would tie everything together in a satisfying and logically consistent way. Very boring. Trite, shallow plot and worldbuilding. Most of the endings are bad and not satisfying.3 found this helpful
This game was recommended to me as a similar vibe to EvenIfTempest, but other than the MC having a sword and sometimes fighting thats where the similarities end. Other than winning a few sword fights I found the MC to be mostly annoying and dumb. The main characters were okay, but none of them were great. It seemed like some parts dragged and others needed more content. Its okay but nothing special, but nowhere near as good as the hype seemed to make it.2 found this helpful

If neutral was an option I'd select that. As an otome game I wouldn't recommend. As a dystopian choices-matter story game, then I might recommend. Maybe it's just advertised as the wrong genre? Pros: The art is pretty and it feels like they put a lot into the story. Cons: The good endings aren't very good/happy, the romance isn't very romantic, most of the story consists of events going from bad to worse, with 4 bad endings to each 1 lukewarm ending, and MC is pretty annoying tbh. A pet peeve I have is that the changes to the story from the choices aren't differences to reality corresponding to MC's actions. For example, if you choose one choice a character may run in to your rescue but if you choose another choice in the same option list then that character would be across town doing something totally unrelated. I'd categorize the game more as a dystopia through different perspectives than an otome.
i wanted to wait until i complete all endings but i just can't. i would recommend this game if it was free to play or very cheap but that's not the case. it's simply not worth its price. good thing i at least bought it while on sale. let's start with the good stuff: 1. the visuals and the graphics are nice. steam prison is overall pretty. 2. the story has a great potential. it's quite long so you can potentially bond with the characters, there's a lot of space for growth and character development. 3. there's no good and evil in general here. sure, there is sachsen, but other than that nothing here is either black or white. that's just the theory though. the idea was great, however the way game was made is something else. 1. first of all, poor action. the game is relatively long, the endings end abruptly. 2. the MC is insufferable. she's sent to prison for being framed into killing her own parents and then it's never brough up again. she doesn't really mention it anymore. literally forgets about it and focuses on guys instead lol. her personality doesn't really grow either. i feel like in the end she's the same person she was before outside of being in love. she also forgets ab…
