Beware of the ugly AI slop backgrounds. So, I bought ABYSS OF THE SACRIFICE spontaneously on sale because, from what I've seen in the trailer, it reminded me a lot of the Nonary games. I'm not too deep in yet, but I must say the AI slop in this game makes it insanely unappealing. I don't know if all backgrounds were generated with AI, but it's very obvious that the hospital in the "Father" chapter is made with AI. You don't need to be a professional to realize that the blur, inconsistent shapes, etc., don't make any sense at all. As for the story, I can't say too much about it yet; the influence of 999 and VLR is obvious, though. I haven't made up my mind yet if I'm even planning to continue this game because I'm really bothered by the AI stuff.

ABYSS OF THE SACRIFICE is a mystery-driven visual novel and escape adventure developed by INTENSE and published by D3PUBLISHER. Blending psychological suspense, puzzle-solving, and branching storytelling, the game delivers an experience that constantly challenges players to uncover the truth behind a series of unsettling events. While it originates from an earlier handheld release, the game's unique structure and compelling narrative help it remain engaging for modern audiences who enjoy story-focused adventures. The plot takes place in Foundation, a secluded underground society that has existed for generations away from the surface world. When a catastrophic incident throws this hidden civilization into chaos, five young women become trapped in a desperate struggle for survival. What begins as a seemingly simple escape scenario gradually transforms into a complex mystery filled with secrets, conspiracies, and revelations. The narrative slowly peels back layers of information, encouraging players to question everything they learn and examine every detail carefully. This slow-burning approach creates a strong sense of curiosity and keeps the story intriguing throughout most of its …

As this is a visual novel, I won’t explain why it’s a great one — it’s self-explanatory for anyone who knows. +1 Positive review from my end to do my duty!

Now that I finished it, I have to say that this game ironically has some of the hardest puzzles I've ever encountered. The kind of puzzles that designers would be scared to put in their game. I like that a lot You should definitely play this if you enjoy the sweet nectar of under-the-radar mediocrity. And I do mean that in a good way. I could be starting Baldurs Gate 3, or Kingdom Come 2, or finish FF Rebirth 7, but instead I played this. That's saying something ====== Alright, I'm into it. You need to get used to the washed out visuals. The first 10 minutes are frustrating, not sure how hard I'm expected to squint and the blotches and so on. But once you get a sense of where the puzzle design is at, it starts to feel fun. I'm loving this game so far. At first you might be hit with a sense of "I've seen this all before". But when we look at a painting, do we say "I've seen these colors before", or when we listen to music "I've heard these notes before"? So give it a chance So far I think the gameplay is a bit better than the Nonary games. I found those particularly cumbersome to navigate. Although this game definitely feels like a scuffed handheld port, I think it adds…
