Decent Freespace-like for what it is. And what it is, is clearly a PC port of a mobile game. That isn't a bad thing, but it does lead to certain user interface and control quirks common in PC ports of mobile games. Whether that is a dealbreaker is really up to the individual. I like the music and the voice acting, the ship controls are good with most of what you expect in a Freespace-like, and the art direction is very fitting for the setting. What really blew me away was the ambient sounds coming from the various stations, beacons and ships you pass by; it really adds to the immersion! The mission variety is actually a bit more diverse than I was expecting, even if every bounty contract seemed to be for the same three criminals. Ship variety is pretty good as well, with quite a few different ships to fly and collect! Visuals are crisp without sacrificing the retro look of the art style. That said, the game has some pretty big flaws, most of which are common among mobile ports. The UI is very much "Mobile Game UI" that has rather large and oddly placed readouts for a PC game which make it a bit awkward to read on a larger screen. Used to play Wing commander and Freespace, and this brings me back to the good ol' days. I like flying around to mine stuff and stare at the pretty environments.

Y'know what? Hell yeah. Controller support is well done and combat feels nice. The sound design is a little cheesy but with the game's influences that's kind of the point isn't it? Enjoy yourself some pewpewpew on occasion. This game reminds me of the countless hours I dumped into Freelancer growing up, and that's pretty cool. Well worth the price of admission to revisit those memories.

I bought and installed the game, launched it, and it refused to accept any mouse inputs. I went through what I could find online for suggestions, but that's not an experience anyone should expect to have with a game product on Steam. I couldn't tell you whether the content is any good, but I can tell you it's pretty likely you won't be able to find out either. What I was able to see made it look like it's not ready for prime time... there is stilted voice acting and what looks like a lazy storyline but once I got through the clumsy intro I lost my patience with trying to guess the keyboard shortcuts. I also had lost any faith in actually being able to do anything in the game. I spent an hour trying to fix this, but I ended up feeling like someone should pay ME for that experience and not the other way around so I'm asking to get my money back.

The game has simple, good controls and an arcade flight mode. The cockpit mode works great for me and i am enjoying the dogfights.

Thumbs up for this space game coming from the classical genre like the games Galaxy on Fire HD, Freelancer, Wing Commander, but with several points that stand up compared to other such titles: - Good graphics considered that this is a mobile port for PC. - The game is challenging and has all the content of the classics in the genre but - thanks the Lord - without too complex mechanics and therefore open to all gamers, not just hardcore space sim fans. - Very stable, good hardware performance, no serious bugs to report (I haven't seen any after 10 hours of playing). - The various star system designs are beautiful, not a copy-paste where you can say you have seen 1, you have seen all of them - no! They are all different, gorgious and convincing. Stellar Wanderer DX has impressed me by not being too repetitive, the missions are varied enough and you always have the feeling that it's time to upgrade your ship. Good design overall! And speaking about ships, there are many of them you can chose from (spending your in-game credits of course...), all suited for the different activities you can do like Trader, Pirate, Bounty Hunter, Asteroid Miner, crew transporter etc. One thing to no…
