[h1] Great game but be sure to remap controller/Steam Deck inputs. [/h1] This game is exactly what you want -- another dose of Fire Emblem that isn't the same games you've replayed 5 times each. However, the default controller mapping is absolutely terrible. Go in to steam settings, and remap the buttons to make it playable. There was a thread about the Steam Deck mappings in which the dev themselves commented with the following: Recommended layout: D-pad / Left Stick: Arrow keys A: Enter or Z B: X Menu button: Esc Optional mouse controls: Right Trackpad: Mouse R2: Left Click L2: Right Click Link to that thread here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/3821860/discussions/0/570414689743305938/ After doing this, the game was super fun and playable, and I absolutely loved my time with it. Genuinely unplayable on controller without the remapping.

Actually had a blast playing this, it certainly stays true to the retro feeling on all current mechanics, music and character development are on the right spot. Levels evolve their complexity as you advance, difficulty feels progressive as well. Something I truly appreciate is that enemies hunt you like 90% of time instead of waiting, so it constantly pushes you to move and adapt to the map. I'd really love to see a sequel some time or at least some expansions to the campaign. Thinking about an open map that lets you explore several battlegrounds, secrets, shops, and more weapons variations for each classs. An endless tower mode could be really engaging with the current difficulty, maybe building random map layouts on each floor. Overall, this game brought me a great experience without being overwhelmingly difficult. I'm looking forward for my next run on max difficulty. Congrats to the developers

This game is totally unplayable on SteamDeck with the default controller layout.

Simple, but great balance and strategy. One big complaint is that managing everything with left and right mouse clicks can be frustrating when you miss click and get stuck in a menu instead of selecting the character. The different classes and class progression are cool, but over half of the units are unique/hero units that already have their class assigned. The composition of your team changes every few missions, which means you have to frequently adapt your strategy to the team you have not the ideal team you want.
