Hello! I'm Odd Ember, a solo developer and artist working on my own projects. Summona Realm is my very first project, and there’s still a lot of work ahead. [i] As of the time of this review the prologue and chapters 1-3 are available in full. Note: My playtime is notably lower than it takes to read it in full because I played it on itch.io before and skipped the prologue and the first two chapters here on Steam. [/i] An interesting and promising start of a visual novel that seems to aim big based on the massive amount of world building already happening within the first three chapters. The pacing is well done, important terms are conveniently marked up the first time they appear and there is an automatically updating notebook that explains all those terms so you can easily look things up. They also provide a lot of additional lore and contribute majorly to the overall worldbuilding. The developer is communicative and responds to feedback on various platforms (Itch.io, Discord). The characters come across as original and have depth with the player learning a little bit more about them with each interaction. So far all characters encountered (save one) are old friends of the MC so we are learning about their past (and the MC's) bit by bit. The art is entirely hand-drawn and overall very nice. The game’s pretty interesting! I really like how the story’s told. It’d be awesome if the creator added a little in-game app to read each character’s own story (if there is 18+ version it would be great hahaha). The story seems to have open plot. Hopefully it goes deep enough to keep us attracted.1 found this helpful
